Oh my gosh! A thousand reads for the first volume! Yay! I'm so happy you guys are the best readers ever. You are so patient with me and so encouraging. I don't know what I'd do without you guys. So let's try this again volume 9.

You couldn't believe how well he was playing. Y/N thought, examining the chess board seeing that's he's already taken three of your bishops and you've only taken one of his own.

You glanced at him his large fist still holding up his head keeping his chiseled chin up. His deep chocolate eyes now poised behind a lens as the black pair of glasses seemed to lay a little crooked. He did a loud yawn hand going up to stop some of it but you could tell when those piercing dark orbs met yours he meant business.

At first it was hard to believe that the guy sitting across from you just bolted through a locked door with one kick and socked the captain of police jaw out of place.

But in this one moment. You finally understood that looks are deceiving.

Nicolas squinted at the chess pieces in silence he hasn't talked, signed, or written a word.

He's just so focused that you even started to mess with him snapping your fingers in his face, poking his tan cheek bones, you even thought of touching his very strong arm that caused you to almost blush this morning.

But nothing. Absolutely nothing.

It was his turn for a while now you where about to fall asleep on the armchair of the couch. When he finally made his move.

He reached out and shook your shoulder for you to wake up.

"Huh? I'm up!" You got up with a jolt and looked around the room rapidly.

Nicolas just shook his head and pointed down towards the chessboard.

"How did you know the Fried Liver Attack?"

'Nicolas sacrificed his own knight to get my black king out of the way he's getting his material back. He couldn't have read anything chess related could he! No this is a very aggressive move sacrificing anything he can to achieve victory. If this is anything like how he fights in real life.'

You slowly look up seeing Nicolas move his hand to his mouth sighing boredly but his eyes stared boldly into your own.

"Where did you learn this from?"

He shrugged and wrote in the notepad.

I don't know.

Humph! You disagreed but then to you it makes sense since Nicolas is a very direct  person and at times it can be viewed as extremely aggressive.

'How do I combat this? Proper defense is difficult across the board but played correctly I can have a slight advantage but in most lines he's gonna win his material back... But he's forgotten that he's left one very important piece wide open his persistent attacking may have created an opening!'

You take one of your bishops closer to the king secretly by each move but Nicolas was steadily winning his material back and gaining yours there was only one piece left and he'd win the game.

But you only had one move left and you'd take his king it all came down to this.

You decided not to worry so much on defense and give Nicolas this false sense of security that his aggressive attacks where working which lead him to be more vulnerable with each move but now it seems like both of you are backed into a corner and it all came down to this.
