Taurtis' P.O.V. (and a bit back in time)

I don't know how long we've been down here. It seems like ages. There are no windows. There's no lights except when she comes down here to beat us, and the door is open.

The chains hurt. They hurt my wrists, hurt my ankles, hurt my throat. Every time I move, they seem to pinch me. The ones on my wrists make me bleed. My wrists and ankles are raw red.

I'm jealous of Holly. She doesn't have it nearly half as bad as me. But she's tried comforting me, holding me in her arms. It helps. It helps ease the pain.

One morning, (I think it was morning) she came down. I coward in the corner, scared of what she was going to do this time. She usually beats us until we bleed. It's horrible.

She laughed. "You two are so funny to watch," she said.

"What do you want?!" Holly screamed.

"I've just come to give you something." She took something out of her pocket, and I sat up at the sight of it. "These are the keys to unlock your chains. If you can reach them, you can go free."

She placed them down in the ground, and me and Holly lunged for them. Unfortunately, they were an inch out of our reach. The chains were keeping us from getting to them.

I didn't even feel the tears rain down from my eyes this time until Holly pulled me into a hug. I cried silently into her arms. She was still standing over us, smiling menacingly.

"Why are you still here?" Holly yelled at her. "Can't you see you've hurt him enough?"

She cackled. "Alright, alright. I'll leave you lovebirds to cry. See you soon!"

Then she skipped out of the room, slamming the door behind her. We were plunged into darkness once again.

Holly patted my head. "I'm going to try and reach the keys, okay?" she whispered softly in my ear. Her voice made me relax. I nodded slowly. She took me out of her arms and I laid on the cold ground, not wanting to move again. I watched as Holly slowly crawled towards where the keys were. She reached out a hand, but her fingertips were just a bit too far away.

"Crap," she muttered to herself. She then looked around the dank basement for something. Anything. Crawling over to the corner, she picked up a small twig. Then she crawled back to the keys and sat on her knees. She reached the twig out, and hooked it into the key ring.

"Gotcha!" she whisper-yelled. Pulling the twig back, she grabbed the keys and crawled over to me. Holly unlocked my chains first, then did the same with hers.

I couldn't help myself. I pulled her into a tight hug, crying happily on her shoulder. She hug back and I could feel her tears falling into my back. After what felt like forever, we broke apart.

"Now what?" I asked quietly.

"We need a distraction," Holly replied. "So we can get outta here."

Then she paused. I could almost see the lightbulb form over her head.

"That it! Okay, so I've got a plan. I'll distract...her...while you run. Run as far away as you can. Try to get help. We're going to need it."

I stared at her in disbelief. "What about you?"

"Pfft, I'll be fine. Just make sure you get help."

"I'm not leaving you here with her."

"Taurtis, you have to. Only one of us can get out of here, and I want it to be you."

"Holly-"

"It's Candy, remember?"

"Oh, yeah. Candy, why?"

She laughed slightly. "Because I love you, Taurtis."

I blinked. "R-Really?"

"No, I just said that to make you feel better. Of course, Taurtis! Don't you remember when we were kids? I fell for you at the very beginning."

I couldn't believe it was true. This was like a dream...or a movie. (A/N: it was just like a movie...sorry not sorry XD) Slowly, I leaned in, until my lips met hers. I could feel her smile, and I smirked back. We kissed each other for quite some time. After we finally broke apart, I said, "I'll come back for you."

She nodded, smiling happily. Then we stood up. I was still shaky because of my cuts and bruises, but I thought I could run. I looked at Holly, and she nodded, then ran out the door. I heard her calling and taunting Yuki. Then I heard Yuki growling. This was my time. I ran up the stairs and headed for the door. I glanced back, and saw that Holly had tackled Yuki and pinned her to the ground. She looked at me, and winked. I smiled and ran out the door.

I kept running. I passed the school, all the restaurants, the stores, houses, everything. But I couldn't help but think of Holly.

"I'll come back for you," I repeated to myself.
