Chapter Twenty-Four

~A/N: hey look I finally finished this! And it's the big Maria vs Reader showdown! Are you hyped? I'm hyped to see your reactions. You can play the music whenever you want, it's pretty long. There's just a certain point where if you haven't already started playing it, you need too. You'll see it. I chose the Child of Light boss battle music because 1) it's friggin amazing and 2) I LOVE that game. Also, warning: there's some swearing. So yeah~

Holly's P.O.V. (A/N: I haven't done this yet, have I...?)

  I bit my nails as I waited for (Y/N) and Grian to arrive. Taurtis had texted me first, so I had hurried to the police station as fast as I could.

  Soon, the two arrived, wide-eyed and worried. Taurtis walked over from where he was, which was talking to one of the policemen.

  "What happened?" (Y/N) asked.

  "I told you!" Taurtis replied. "Sam just disappeared from the hospital! I went to go check on him and the window was open and he was gone!"

  Grian and (Y/N) exchanged glances. "We know why," said he.

  "Why?" I asked.

  "Because he's possessed by Maria," (Y/N) explained. "Like how Yuki was. Before I killed her, that is. Now Sam's probably roaming around, wreaking havoc in the most silent ways!"

  "Well, what do we do about it?"

  "We've figured out a way to kill Maria," Grian said. "But we need to get to someplace no one else will be. It needs to be open, too."

  "The school roof!" Taurtis suggested. "The school shut down after all the killings, no one will be there!"

  "Perfect."

  "Anything else?" I asked.

  "Nope. We just have to get Sam there."

  "Greeaat."

Your P.O.V.

  The plan was set. Taurtis and Holly we're going to wander around town, looking for Sam. When they found him, they were going to lead him back to the school and up to the roof, where you and Grian stood. Then you would use your soul as bait to lure Maria out of Sam before killing her.

  You noticed Grian breathing heavily. "You okay?" you asked, interwinding your fingers.

  "Yeah, I just—what if you die? What if Maria kills you?"

  "She won't. I'll kill that bitch before she gets a chance to lay a finger on me, you, or anybody else."

  Grian smiled at you. "And this is why I love you."

  You just returned the smile before hearing yelling. Looking over the edge of the roof, you saw that Taurtis and Holly had both found Sam, and now he was chasing them into the school.

  "Moment of truth," you whispered, releasing Grian's hand. "I love you, now get out of the way."

  Grian did as you said, moving to the other side of the roof, say the stairs, so Maria wouldn't see him.

  You waited a few moments, clenching your fists, and you felt your eyes start to glow. Then Taurtis and Holly reached the roof and cricked around to join Grian, and you new Maria was next.

  When Sam finally found his way up, you were grinning. (A/N: that would totally look like Sans with the eyes glowing and whatnot)

  "Hey, assbut!" (A/N: DOES ANYBODY GET THAT REFERENCE? SOMEONE PLEASE GET THAT REFERENCE also if you haven't started playing the music play it now)

  Sam lifted his head, snarling at you. Then Maria spoke.

  "You naïve child, you think you have the power to defeat me?"

  "Hell yeah! Now, battles aren't won by talking, so let's get to it, shall we?"

  So then you started to concentrate. On your soul. You could feel the power of it pulsing through your veins, and you could feel Maria starting to loose control. You felt her slip out of Sam's body, and when you opened your eyes, she was standing there, in her own form.

  "You bitch," she snarled.

  "That's me," you replied, flipping your hair. Then you turned your eyes to her, raising your hand. You felt yourself controlling Maria's form, and you slammed her back into the wall.

  That moment of small victory was cut short when Maria stood and threw you off the roof. You concentrated again, and just before you hit the ground, you started to float.

  Let's take this battle to the air.

  Rising up above the school, you pointed your index finger down at Maria, and a bolt of electricity shot out of it. Not waiting to see the result, you reached your other hand out to the town, willing something to come to you. Within seconds, a knife appeared in your hand. Grinning, you turned around to see Maria shooting yo to reach your level in the sky. You threw the knife, and it landed directly in Maria's chest. She coughed up a bit of blood before glaring at you and shooting her own electricity at you. You reached your hands up to shield yourself, and you felt no pain. Looking up again, you saw that you had surrounded yourself with a force field.

  You put down your hands, and the glowing around you disappeared. Then you stretched both of your hands out at Maria, and a (F/C) monster of magical energy shot out and attacked her. She spiraled toward the ground, and you plummeted down with her. You reached the ground just in time for the energy to explode.

Grian's P.O.V. (A/N: my gosh this is getting long)

  When we saw the explosion, we knew that (Y/N) was down there and she was right in the middle of it. I ran down the stairs and to the front of the school as quick as I could. I had to see if she was okay!

  I reached the front just in time to see (Y/N) trying to stand, coughing up some blood. Running over to her, I let her almost fall into my arm as I tried to help we stand up. She then pointed at a crater in the ground a few feet in front of us, and I turned to look.

  Maria's figure was laying inside the blackened earth, obviously dead. We watched as a last breath of air came from her mouth, before her body melted into the ground, leaving a beautiful purple lily in its place.

  Suddenly, a yellow glow appeared next to us. Then a figure took its place, and we saw...

  "Ellen?" (Y/N) said. "But I thought you could only be seen at a birth?"

  "This is considered a birth," Ellen said simply, gesturing to the flower. "It's fresh new life being brought into the world. So here I am."

  "Why did you come?"

  "I don't what to be part of the universe any more. I've played my part, I've died, it's time for me to move on."

  "Did you not see how long it took to kill Maria? It would take—"

  "It only took that long because my sister was resisting. You can kill me in just one movement."

  (Y/N) nodded understandingly. She looked at me, and I got the message. I took a step back and watched as (Y/N) placed two fingers to Ellen's forehead.

  "Thank you Ellen," she said. "For everything."

  "Anytime."

Then Ellen slowly started to dissolve, and a yellow tulip appeared in her place.

  I took a step towards (Y/N). "Is it over?"

  "Yes." She intertwined our fingers. "It is done."
