It had been 17 days since April, her brother, her mother and Shane had been staying at a refuge camp with Sage and her family and some other people they had just met. It was day 53 that scientists had alerted that the world was in a global outbreak.

So far, April had seen only three people who were dead, walking freely around them which they named as walkers. April couldn't comprehend what she saw when she first encountered one. Shane had managed to stab one in the head with ease as April couldn't bear to stab any of them, even though they were dead. Dead monsters April had thought. She had even thrown up at the sight of one of them when she first saw a walker.

April and her family were stationed at a quarry that Shane had found with the help of some other survivors. Over the past few days they had grown accustomed to the other people who were with them. There was an older man named Dale who took the role as a lookout, Glenn who April and Sage took a liking to, Andrea and Amy who were sisters, T-Dog, Jacqui, Jim and the Morales family as well as 13 other survivors.

April has settled quite well into the group. Apart from her family and Shane, she had become close to Sage, Glenn and Amy whilst her brother kept close with Sophia and the Morales children. Her mom and Carol became good friends too.

Across the camp, April saw the Dixon brothers. April thought of the Dixon brothers as quite... something.
She didn't mind Daryl who kept himself quiet from the group. Most of the times anyways. But Merle, was someone that April had instantly hated. April didn't hate that many people, but April had took an instant dislike towards the older Dixon brother and his overbearing behaviour. As well as Ed of course. She didn't know which one was worse.

April also saw an attractive blonde named Axel who was also stationed at the quarry with them. She had first thought that he was a Dixon brother as he looked similar to them and only seemed to hang around the brothers. But she learnt that he wasn't one thanks to Dale, but got no other information about the mysterious guy due to his off putting demeanour.

April's mother had told her to stay away from him and the Dixon brothers due to the way they looked and acted. April had only rolled her eyes at her mother's judgmental comments. Her dad told her to never judge someone she didn't know. Her mother on the other hand was a different story.

Suddenly she felt a tap on her shoulder and looked over to see that Sage had come over to join her on a log that she was sitting on.

"Go talk to him." Sage had said to April.

"Talk to who?" April asked her, confused.
