I sat down on a bench in front of my apartment building staring at all the city goers that passed by.

It was almost midnight and I still didn't have the courage to walk into an empty apartment.

Andy was gone and I knew it.

"Hadley?"

I knew that voice.

I looked up and Calum was standing in front of me with his phone pressed to his ear.

"I gotta go Sofie."

He hung up his call and put his phone in his pocket before approaching me

"I saw you earlier in the coffee shop." He said.

"I know."

"Are you okay?"

"Perfect. Absolutely amazing."

"You're lying Hadley."

Silence.

"Did he propose to you?"

I chuckled and looked up at him.

"Propose? It's a promise ring Calum."

"Oh."

"He left me."

"Why did he give you a promise ring then?" He said and sat down next to me.

I should go inside.

"Why are you in Melbourne, Hadley?"

"There's nothing for me at home, why would I stay there?"

"Your dad is-"

"My dad doesn't care, Calum. Why do you think I'm here. I came here to make something of myself and so far I'm not doing very well."

"I'm sorry."

"I think I should go in."

"You don't want to."

"How do you know what I want, Calum."

"You're afraid to go inside. Your scared of walking in and coming home to nothing."

"Calum. Stop."

"You're afraid to be alone, Hadley. Your going to walk in there and he's gonna be gone and your gonna be alone."

"Shut up!" I yelled.

Calum stopped.

I looked up as people walking by stared at us.

"I'm going in." I said and stood up after grabbing my bag.

I walked into the building and walked up the stairs to get to my apartment.

When I reached my apartment I unlocked the door, took a deep breath and walked in.

As I made my way to the bedroom I notice something shiny on the kitchen counter.

I approached the counter and saw Andy's key to the apartment.

I heard the floor boards creak as Calum entered the apartment.

"Who's Sofie?" I said not turning around.

"What?"

"Who's Sofie? The person you were on the phone with earlier?"

As I waited for Calum to answer my question I picked the up from the granite counter top and stared at it.

There was an A carved on the top of the key to indicate it was Andy's.

"My girlfriend."

"Was that your girlfriend that you were with at that coffee shop?"

"Yeah."

"She's really pretty." Not a lie.

She was gorgeous.

"Yeah."

I turned around and Calum was standing directly behind me.

He was close.

Really close.

Maybe a little too close.

He got closer until his lips were right by my ear.

"No one will ever be as beautiful as you though."
