Chapter 4
„You could at least pretend to help me or pretend to be busy with something else" I said grumpy, sending Kado a glare. Instead of reacting the way I hoped he would, Kado just shrugged and kept following my every movement with his eyes, seemingly amused.
I sighed frustrated and refocused on the pile of branches in front of me. I didn't have the slightest clue how to light a fire with only those branches and the two stones lying at my feet. Once again I grabbed said stones and struck them together in a last desperate attempt.
This really wasn't my day. Instead of sleeping peacefully next to my friends, I had gone out in the middle of the night in nothing more than a night gown, a jacket and some shoes. And what had come out of it? Some strange guy attacked me, then told me he was my friend, even though I've never seen him before in my entire life, then I literally met the man of my dreams and found out that he's insanely hot, but seems to have some serious mental problems, calling me his "love" and stuff and finally my so called "friend" had dragged me through a forest, that wasn't even supposed to be as big as it currently seemed and somehow we had ended up with me trying to light a fire and him leaning comfortably against a tree and watching me.
I was still confused and overwhelmed by all the events that had just happened in probably less than two hours. My poor brain was working overtimes trying to keep my overly tired body awake and struggling to understand things that couldn't be explained by logic. I mean: That hooded man just shifted into a raven in front of me. Usually you only read about stuff like that in books or maybe see it in movies, but it's just fantasy. It's NOT real. Or is it? And what had all this stuff to do with me? Why was I even here with a guy I didn't even know? And how come I felt so save around Kado?
All that thinking made my head spin and a felt the stones gliding out of my weak fingers. Suddenly it wasn't my head that was spinning, but the whole world and it became difficult to keep my balance. I noticed that I was falling backwards, but the next moment a hand steadied me.
"Whoa there, no need to take the words "falling asleep" literally" he breathed, his deep voice calm and soothing and my whole body relaxed. Noticing my exhausted state he carefully scooped me up in his arms, ignoring my mumbled protests. A moment later I felt him lay me down on some blankets that he had prepared as our sleeping place.
