~Vic's POV~
I smiled at Kellin, trying to keep myself from blushing. I whistled loudly.
"Shut up, sexican."
Kellin snapped, grinning at me.
"Well? Are you going to get out for a minute so I can change?"
He asked, laughing and jerking his thumb towards the door.
"Ah.... Nah, I'll stay here."
I said, though I got up and went to stand in the hallway while Kellin got dressed. He came out a moment later, wearing dark denim jeans, a maroon t-shirt, and a black beanie.
"I'm ready,"
He announced, giving me a lopsided smile. We headed downstairs where the tv was playing from the living room. Kellin's mom poked her head out of the doorway, her tense shoulders relaxing when she saw us.
"Where are you going?"
Kellin rolled his eyes, as if this were the most obvious question she could've asked.
"Just to the park. We'll be back in a few hours or so, then I'll have to take Vic home."
She nodded and told us goodbye before retiring back to the couch.~~~~~
We arrived at the park fairly quickly, but by then the overcast of clouds had taken its toll: it was raining. Kellin sighed, tapping the steering wheel in frustration.
"Well, I guess we can't play on the play ground."
"I beg to differ."
Kellin tilted his head at me, gesturing towards the rain outside.
"Uhm, Vic? It's muddy and gross."
"Didn't you ever play in the mud as a kid, Kellin? Or were you too much of a pretty boy?"
He ignored my taunt.
"Well yeah, but-"
I leaned over him to unlock the car doors, stepping outside into the downpour. My head fell back as I soaked in the calm, wetness of the water falling on my face. After a moment, I decided it was warm enough for Kellin.
"Kells! You've got to come out here! It feels great!"
I yelled, throwing my arms out. I felt hands snake around my waist.
"It does, doesn't it?"
Kellin said in my ear. I pulled away to grin at him. He had taken his beanie off, and the rain looked marvelous dripping from his raven-colored hair.In a rare streak of bravery, I kissed his cheek and ran away, splashing in mud puddles. It felt good to unwind and just act like a kid again; I couldn't remember a time when I had felt quite like this. Even as a kid, Mike and I had never had this much fun.
Kellin caught up with me, easily finding me hiding behind a large tree. He circled towards me and I peeked on that side of the tree expecting to find him and screaming when he came up behind me. Quicker than I would've thought possible, he pinned my wrists to the tree, glaring at me.
"You can't kiss me and get away with it,"
"Oh really?"
He nodded.
"Really. So now you have to pay the consequences."Kellin's smirk was almost frightening as he dragged me away from the tree, towards a large dip in the open, grassy field where a giant puddle had formed. I don't know why I didn't pull away from him, I undoubtedly could've. I was almost scared until he stopped, grabbed me by the chin, and leaned in as if to kiss me.
Instead of kissing me though, he pushed me straight into the puddle, where I landed right on my butt, soaked from the waist down.
"KELLIN SO HELP ME GOD, I'M GONNA KILL YOU-"
I screeched, standing up. My jeans stuck uncomfortably to my skin now, and I felt like I had just sat in a cold bathtub. He laughed at me, sticking his tongue out and running back for the car.I followed after him, climbing into the passenger seat. I gave up on being mad and laughed with him.
"You should've seen your face... You thought I was going to kiss you!"
He exclaimed. He didn't make a move to start the car. Instead, he climbed into my lap and kissed me deeply, for real this time.He tasted of cinnamon and mud, something I had never expected to enjoy before. My hands tangled in his wet hair, while his held my waist. His utter closeness made me dizzy with longing. Before I could stop myself, I ruined the perfect moment: I laughed.
Kellin pulled away from me and stuck his bottom lip out, pouting.
"What's so funny? Do you not like the way I taste?"
"No, you taste fine, but... is this going to become a routine for us?"
"Is what going to become a routine?"
"Kissing in cars."
Kellin wrinkled his nose at me and said matter-of-factly,
"Actually, I'd prefer the phrase 'making out.'"I rolled my eyes.
"Yeah, well."
He climbed off of me and into the driver's seat, starting the car. He shook his head and sighed.
"Vic... I like you. A lot."
I hid my smile by turning to stare out the window.
He likes me?
"I like you too, Kellin."
"That's good."
He said casually, as if I had just announced that I had gotten a good grade on a test. We were quiet until he stopped in front of his house."I'll go grab your bag, you can stay here."
Before I could protest, Kellin pressed a finger to my lips and shushed me.
"It's warm in the car, and cold outside. Stay here."
I sighed in defeat and nodded, while Kellin left me alone with my thoughts. What even was this relationship? We were only friends, right? I don't know much about friendship, maybe normal friends kiss like that?
I scowled and ran my fingers through my hair.
Of course not. That's stupid. But then... What was this? We were more than friends, we weren't dating. Hell, I'd only known this boy for a few days!
I felt shocked suddenly at the realization of how short our time together had been and how much we had already gone through.
Do I... Do I love him?Kellin came back with my bag in hand, tossing it on my lap and climbing into his seat. He hadn't changed from his wet clothes, but he had put on my jacket from yesterday. I was, again, struck by how gorgeous he looked in lavender.

Okay guys, I've been too nice to you. This is officially the last fluffy chapter until things start picking up. I'll probably go to Kellin's POV for a while. Also, I made a new cover for this, which I like a lot yay. By the way, if any of you are interested in shitty poetry, I published a lil book of somethings. Thanks for commenting, voting, following, and reading. I love you all. ❤️
