Memories

As I was getting ready for bed I took out a small glass cube called an Invisi-box.

"No." I commanded.

The Invisi-box glowed with blue light.

"Yxalag eht em wohs." I said.

The Invisi-box turned on a holographic image of the solar system. Pluto, Earth, even Krypton. The planets filled my royal bed chamber with light and stars.

"Deb ni eb uoy t'ndluohs?"

I turned around to see my father. The king of pluto. He was always a kind man and the people loved him.

"Uoy rof gnitiaw saw I." I said, turning off the Invisi-box.

He came and sat down next to me.

Waking up from my dream, I got up and started to get ready for school.

A black v-neck shirt with black skinny jeans, black slip on Vans and a black spiked bracelet.

I went to the bathroom and braided my black hair. Just as I was finishing my makeup, I took one glance at a picture next to the sink. It was of all of us kids standing next to each other in order.

Brittany was 18, Gemma 17, Charlie 16, me 14, Christ 10, Sally 5, and Alex 3.

Gemma, Christ, Sally, and Alex are all Ben's kids. Brittany, Charlie and I have the same dad. Before he died I was the last kid. The baby. Now, I'm the middle child. The glue. The forgotten one.

The picture next to that one is of my dad. Him smiling. It was taken only two hours before he died.

But that's a story for another time.

Walking down the stairs I saw my mom giving Charlie waffles with sixteen lit candels.

"Happy birthday Charlie." She kissed him on the cheek.

"Ah yeah," He pumped his fists in the air. "Sweet sixteen!"

Grabing my backpack and a fiber one brownie from the cabinet. I set off for school.

Since I'm at the end of middle school I have too do a really hard test in my main core classes. And math is the hardest.

So when I left my 5th hour and went to my 6th, it felt like a million pounds lifted off my brain. Even if I have to do a paper on the Mexican American war in US history.

In 6th hour people were showing each other pictures of me as Lightning while fighting Widow Girl.

"This girl is soooo cool!" One kid said.

"I've never got the long sleeve and short skirt thing." Another said.

Walking to my desk, Andy was on his phone reading a paper on Lightning.

"Is that good?" I joked.

"Congrats." He said. "You just defeated your first villain."

I put my finger to my lips. "Don't say it so loud."

By then the teacher came and everyone was in their seats, tucking their phones in their pockets.

After I finished my paper and survived Gym, I went to my locker to grab my stuff and started to walk home.

My house is one and a half miles from my school. I always go to a gas station to buy a water or some candy. The cashier had a small tv that had the news on.

When I came in, the tv was talking about the weather.

I grabbed a Figi water bottle and a Twix candy bar, at the counter the weather changed to a story on Lightning and Widow Girl.

"Here we are outside the Via Christi hospital where our very own Lightning defeated Widow Girl. As you can see, protesters are arguing about the fight that happened last night." The lady was saying.

Two sides. Two groups of people arguing. One against me, and one for me.

"Lightning has already cost millions of dollars in property damage. Who's gonna pay for that?" An old man was saying. "Us regular people that's who!"

"She saved people's lives five times." A teenage girl was saying. "That's five more than you."

I sighed and took the money out of the back pocket of my skinny jeans.

"How are you Elysia?" The cashier said.

"Not so good Jewel." I said. "Lightning is only trying to help people."

"Well, if you ask me, I'm on Lightnings side on this." Jewel put the food in a bag. "My daughter sure as hell is. Sometimes Lightning is the only thing she talks about."

After I paid, I said bye and started to walk to the door. But then the tv caught my attention.

"We interrupt this program with braking news. It seem as if Lightning has a new villain." The lady was now saying.

The woman on the tv had pinkish purplish hair. Her skin was a glowing tan. She was wearing a dark almost black blue jumpsuit with turquoise flames on her chest and purple ones on her abdomen. And a black belt on her waist.

"The villain seems to be calling herself 'Sapphire', and somehow her singing is making men rob banks." The lady said.

"Oh boy," Jewel said." you think she would be smarter than that."

But by the time she turned to look at me, I had already grabbed the bag and took off.

Hiding in a dark stall of a car wash next door, I changed into my Lightning uniform and took off into the sky. Heading to the credit union of america bank downtown.

From a few miles out, I used my telescopic vision to see the richest men in Wichita were pointing guns at people and stealing money.

And there, bossing all the men was Sapphire. I then used my super hearing when her mouth started moving.

"Time to steal from more banks boys." She sang.

I flew down so hard the earth trembled. Everyone almost lost their balance.

Sapphire took one look at me and smirked.

"Your not at all what I expected in person." She smiled.

She turned to the army of men in suits and ties, and then looked back at me.

"Shoot her." She sang.

And then at least hundreds of bullets came at me at once. Only feeling like light taps to me.

"Stand down," She held up her plam. "Final warning."

I held my fists up in a fighting stand.

"I can do this all day."
