Day Twelve

Day Twelve: It's your birthday. What will #3 give you? (Gajeel Redfox)

I saunter my way to the guild hall, bored. I really hope no one knows that it's my birthday. I swear, if anyone knows, I'm dead. This guild is already too excited.. But I guess that's the way I like it.. I smile and shake my head, hesitantly opening the doors. "Hey, Saeko! " Mira immediately greets me, taking my hand, and pulls me to the bathroom. "Here, I got you a gift." She giggles, handing me a small, wrapped box.

"Y-You knew..?" I sigh.

"Don't worry, I didn't tell anyone else. I knew you wouldn't want all that commotion. Now open it!" I pull the top off and smile at the pretty earrings.

"W-Woah.. You didn't have to.." I pull out my plain metal studs, replacing them with the black and white hearts. "These are gorgeous!" I say, grinning at my reflection.

"I'm so glad you like them!" She hugs me. "Now come on, the guild will get suspicious if I'm gone for too long." We walk out together.

"Hey, have you seen Gajeel?" I ask her, blushing. She thinks for a second, then shakes her head. "Oh. Thanks!" I walk off in Natsu and Lucy's direction. "Hey guys!" I take a seat.

"SAAEEKO!" Natsu cheers. Happy hands me a fish with a bow on it and beams at me. "Huh? Happy, why'd you give her a fish?"

"Because it's her bir-"

"Because I asked him what kind of fish was the best!" I laugh nervously. "So have you guys seen Gajeel?"

"Nope. I haven't seen your boyfriend all day." Lucy winks at me. My face turns red.

"I-I.." I give up, sighing. "Thanks anyway." I get up and start searching around the guild. Makarov waves me over.

"Happy you-know-what, Saeko!" He hands me some money.

"O-Oh, thank you, master!" I take it, feeling terrible. "Do you know where Gajeel is, by chance?" He shakes his head.

"I haven't seen him all day. Maybe he's still at his house."

"Thanks!" I wave, walking out of the guild. Dammit, Gajeel. You said we were going on a special job today and you don't even come to the freaking guild. Uggggh. I groan loudly, walking down the street. Which appartment does he live in again? Was in 302 or 203? God fuc- OH WAIT. It's 323. Now I remember. I knock on his door angrily. Inside, I hear hammering and whatnot. What the heck is he doing? He doesn't answer. I just kind of stand there for a couple minutes, not knowing what to do.

"Finally," I hear his muffled voice from inside his house. "I'm done.." I knock on the door again, now that the loud noises have stopped. He opens the door, dripping sweat, and panics when he sees me. "S-Saeko, what are you doing here..?

"You said we were going on a job and you weren't at the guild, so.."

"Oh.. Well uh, come in." He opens the door for me. I step in, plopping down on his couch.

"Why weren't you at the guild?"

"I-I was doing something.." He cleans himself up a little.

"Oh.. Alright." I smile. "So what's our job?"

"W-Well.." He sits next to me. "I lied."

"About..?" I look directly at him.

"There isn't a job. I just needed to talk to you."

"O-Oh.. Okay."

"Well.. Here." He hands me a small box. "I.. Just open it."

I cringe, but open the box anyway. It contains a small, iron heart charm on a necklace chain. I instantly flush. "D-Did you.. make this?" He nods, obviously nervous. "Help me put it on.." I turn around, lifting my hair up. He clasps it and runs his hand down my back, "How's it look?" I turn to him, giggling. Pink rushes over his cheeks.

"It looks great on you.."

"You really think so?" My eyes grow wide. He nods and pulls me into a hug.

"You're beautiful.." He whispers. I pull away and look up at him. He begins to lean in, resulting in me doing the same. Our lips meet, and eventually, we both pull away. "Happy birthday, my love.."
