"Hey" Alex's voice rings through phone.
I wanted to scream at him, to ask him where the hell he had been, or why when I needed him he just up and left.
But all I could utter was a weak,
"Hi.""I-" Alex starts before he goes quiet and I crack,
"What the hell Alex. What the hell." I choke out."You left, you just disappeared into thin air, after everything. After...after you kiss me and act like you care. And then...then you just leave."
"Liz...I- " Alex tries but goes silent.
"You left me. You said you wouldn't and then you left Alex, you left." I stumble over my words holding back the water from poring over my eyes.
Why am I crying? Why and I letting this affect me so much.
"I didn't expect us to do this not to each other. You were my best friend Alex.""Were?" Pain laced in the simple word tumbled out of his mouth.
"I don't know anymore..." I reply back.
"I'm sorry, just let me explain...please." Alex starts, "meet me tomorrow." He tries.
I stayed silent wondering what in the hell he could possibly tell me that would explain his random absence.
"Please Elizabeth."
"Fine." I sigh.
"Thank you." He whispers out before hanging up.
I sit there on the couch, not moving, barely even breathing. Shocked into silence.
"Elizabeth?" I hear Ms James from the kitchen.
"Are you too staying for dinner?" She calls out.
"No mom, we're going to her house, family dinner." KJ calls back before running down the stairs to me.
"Hey Liz, you ready?" KJ walks into the living room and rests his head on mine.
I smile at his adorable mannerisms and nod, pushing him off of me."I'll drive." I say swiping the keys out of his hands.
"Excuse me? My car!" He rushes after me after I'm already out the door.
"I need to clear my head, just let me drive." I sigh.
"You sure?" KJ asks hesitantly, running a look up and down my body checking for anything possibly wrong.
"Yes! Jeez I'm fine!" I get into the drivers seat.
We quickly made out way to George's not but 10 minutes later, and were greeted with a very loud house and the smell of pasta and meatballs flowing through every inch of the house."Willow?" I scream seeing the back of a very curly haired brunette.
"BABE!" She screams running over to me.
"God I haven't seen you in ages babe! I got a call from James saying family dinner, and well I wouldn't miss that for the world!" She chirps.
I look at her baffled and turn the corner to be greeted by everyone.
James coming over and crushing me with a hug before going to be by Willow and whisper things to her, making her giggle.KJ gives me an all knowing look and I smile at him, taking in every second of everyone here.
Luke's dirty blonde hair was over grown and shaggy as he kissed my cheek and said hello before setting the table.
Brandon and Kyle ran over to me, crushing me in a hug and Connor was not far off from that event. After successfully being crushed by all the boys in hugs I managed to find Carter and Tate in the kitchen arguing about spices.
"You guys..." They turn to look at me with a smile, "you didn't have to do this."
"It was all KJs idea." Carter smiles giving me a look.
"We want you to feel at home Liz and if that means game nights and family nights then here we all are!" Tate says while mixing things in a bowl.
"Is that...?" I eye the chocolate bowl and see white chocolate chips and cinnamon being poured in the mixing bowl.
"ARE YOU MAKING MY BROWNIES?" I scream to him jumping up and down before running into him and crushing him with a hug.
"Tate! You are my favorite!" I yell overly excited.
KJ just rolls his eyes before dragging me over the the living room and joining everyone sprawled across the couches and chairs.
I find myself leaning against KJ on the couch with my legs laying across Connor.
I felt myself relax and be content.
We all talk and catch up, each one of the boys analyzing my movements making sure everything is okay. I roll my eyes and assure them I've never been better.
And it was true. I mean surrounded by my boys. It just, it was perfect. Our loud chatter was interrupted by the shrill ring of the doorbell and I jumped up yelling 'I got it' before walking over to the door expecting to see one of Carters friends.
But instead I was greeted by a mop of brown curls and pools of brown eyes I could get lost in.
He was tense, his shoulders up, his face slightly contoured uncomfortably and his eyebrows bunched up in anticipation.
"Alex" I gasped out barely audible
The moment he hears me say his name his whole body relaxes and he pushes himself forwards scooping me up in his arms. His warmth enveloped me as he wrapped one arm around my waist and the other on the back of my head.
"Lizzie." He let out quietly pulling me into a hug.
I pulled back and took a step backwards putting space between the two of us and his eyes bore into mine.
"Fuck it."
And before I could react his lips were on mine, consuming my every being and leaving me utterly stunned.
