Red light, Green light: Part 1

Previously:
I smiled and leaned into him as he drove us home.

My eyes slowly dropped and dreams enveloped my senses.

My body jolted awake.

I saw lights, But nothing in front of me made any sense. I couldn't hear, I couldn't feel. And that was it before my mind blanked and it went black.

"Liz?"

"Lizzie?"

"Lizzie. Please! Open your eyes!"

"Please! I can't do it...I can't not without you."

Red light, Green light: part 1

"Liz. Come on please wake up."

I heard the wind blowing through a window and I found myself sitting at the window sill.

"Liz? Come back inside okay?

Come back"

I turned around expecting to see Alex but instead was greeted with a smiling KJ.

"Hi." I said with a smile. KJ walked towards me, swooping me up in his arms and spinning me around.

"Come back okay?"

The scene went hazy and I felt the wind blowing my hair back and quickly went to push it out from my eyes. I saw the ocean, I saw Alex and I saw myself standing far away with him.

He reached up suddenly in front of me, and he tucked my hair behind my ear, but I couldn't feel his touch and my heart beat began to quicken, "Alex?" I let out.

"I- I'm scared..." I found myself raising my voice as the panic set in. I reached up to touch his hand on my cheek but there was nothing, not the smoothness of his skin or the warmth.

"Come back to me." He whispered his face seemingly happy but tears rolling down his cheeks.

I felt myself falling. I reached out for anything, and I felt my body crash into something. Perfume enveloped my senses and I looked up.

Mom.

I went to yell but no words came out as I jumped away and scrabbled to my feet.

I crashed into a body and saw my dad. He was standing there, ghostly white not saying a word.

"Forgive her." He said after what felt like hours. I found my face wet with tears and clamped my eyes shut and turned to run.

My body crashed into a body but it felt like it was okay. I had a sense of hope and safety and I found myself in KJs arms.

"Please what is happening." I asked looking up to his familiar smile. But just like Alex, regardless of the smile his face was soaked with tears as well.

"Shhh." He comforted stroking my hair and my heart calmed as I could feel his touch.

"It's going to be okay. I'll take care of you. I'm so sorry, I promise I'll do better. Please Elizabeth. Please." He whispered.

But his voice was lost and my eyes slowly closed.

I woke with a jolt.

I was standing in a hospital room. The lights were dimmed. I saw someone leaning over the bed, sitting in a chair but holding the hand of the patient and sleeping.

I looked around and recognize Carter walking in.

"Carter!" I scream relieved to see a kind face. But she walks right by me as if she doesn't see me and goes up to the man holding the patients hand and sleeping.

He looked up and I saw those eyes and that blonde hair recognizing KJ.

"Go get some food." Carter says gently rubbing KJ's back.

KJ simply shakes his head, " I'm not leaving."

"You're not starving either" Carter looks at KJ with tired eyes and an attempted smile.

KJ simply shakes his head.

Carter sighs and sits down on the chair in the corner leaning on her arm as her eyes began to close.

KJ stayed by the hospital bed, " Please. Elizabeth, please wake up."

My heart stopped in that moment. It was me. I was in the hospital bed. I could see skin looking worn and bandaged. I couldn't make sense of what I was seeing in front of me.

All of the sudden I could feel my body collapsing in itself and I saw the lights start to flash and the machines blaring noises as Carter jumped to my side and KJ screamed for help.

I could see myself, see myself and my body failing but it didn't feel real. It was almost like a dream. A very strong dream.
