"Why does life hate me so?" I huff slamming my laptop shut and pushing it aside.
"Don't be so dramatic." My sister groans.
"I am not being dramatic. I will never see my favorite band in concert, because the tickets are so damn expensive!" I dramatically throw up my hands for effect. I guess the last hour of my life refreshing the ticket page to win VIP passes was well wasted.
"You are so weird." My sister breathes and turns around leaving my room.
"I'm gonna win one of these days!" I shout after her as she runs down the stairs laughing at me.
I sigh falling back into my fluffy pillows.
"Why must I be broke?!"

I get out of the car and pull my head phones out. Unfortunately trying to get past all of the gossiping girls. It was a typical day. Your average boring, middle of the week school day. Nothing special. And I mean nothing. It was high school for crying out loud. No one liked it here and if they did then they were probably lying to themselves. You either loved the social and hated the school or loved the school and hated the social. No one got it both ways that's just how it was.
For me I loved the social. Sure I enjoyed music class and lunch but those don't exactly qualify as being academic classes. So here I was on an unimportant week day in the dreaded hallways of school.
I kept walking on by, walking with a purpose as so no one would stop and try to talk to me but to my despair that never quite worked around here. I was the girl. The girl that everyone wanted to be friends with. Not because I was a likable person but because I was the gateway. To them.
"Oh my god!" I hear from about every girl in the hallway, because apparently every single girl felt the need to scream when they saw each other.
"LIZZIE is that you?!" Some blonde barks at me while I walk through the hallway.
I very reluctantly stop and look up to Katie, who is the exact person I never want to talk to. Ever. I shut my book I was reading and look at her with the best smile I could muster."Hi Katie."
"Oh I go by Kassie now." She beams, "It's more professional don't you think? I'm going to go into business, I told you that yesterday. Just like my father!" She squeaks
I restrain myself from rolling my eyes and continue with a smile. "Oh how nice"
Katie's real name is Kasselina. And she changes her "name" at least once a year. Last year she went by Lina. The year before it was Selina. And now its Kassie."Anyways! So I was wonder if Kyle was going with anyone to the Winter Ball yet?"She asks beaming...still.
"Don't know...sorry." I say, starting to walk away again now even more annoyed than before.
"Oh but" She snaps grabbing my arm. "You know. I know you know." And there she goes again with her evil grin like she knows she can destroy you at any minute. Sorry sweet cheeks that shit doesn't work on me.
"No I don't. We don't talk about dates to dances sorry." I smirk and pull my arm as I walk away.
And that was how it was. I was that girl. The one people always asked for information on the guys. Because they all thought I would know.
"Hey short stack" Conner bumps into me smiling. I look up to see Conner's literally towering over me. Literally he was 6'5.
"Hey Conner." I reply letting out a sigh of relief. Conner was family. He took care of his own, and that always included cheering me up and knowing if something was wrong from a mile away.
"Why were you talking to Katie?" He asks
"Oh I wasn't but she sure did a lot of talking. Oh and its Kassie now. "More professional." I say sarcastically in air quotes.
Conner laughs knowing all too well that the uppity girls here were always trying to dig out information from me.
I mean they had good reason to believe I would know everything on the boys. They were my boys. And well I did know everything. I just don't share well.

I walk into english with a left over smile from Conner cheering me up on the walk over here. He had US history next door so we tended to wait for each other after and head out to lunch after.
After only 20 long minutes pass in class, I open up my notebook and start sketching random figures.
"Are you drawing a Neil Horen?"
"Who?" I ask giving her a look.
"Neil?! You know from one direction with Lewis and Harry and Liam and Zaine?!"
I clamp my hands in my lap and control myself. Since I don't listen to boy bands and at least I know how to say their names.
"No it wasn't, sorry." I say calmly, flipping the page to a clean sheet and rolling my eyes.
I huff to myself sighing and start a new drawing. Scribbling designs down as they come to me. Surrounding myself with my own thoughts to distract myself from English. Unfortunately this class was mainly girls, for some odd reason the admissions unevenly distributed the classes and one was 40 people and the other (mine) was 20 people and 17 of them were girls... Which for me, to put it simply: sucked.
