Just Friends

Chapter 4.

F o u r

I sat by my friend Cole who had just fell from a bridge, it wasn't a big bridge just not a small one. He laid in the hospital bed, he had a few bruises on his face and his legs were in bad condition but they would be fine in a few weeks time.

To be honest, he looked cute wrapped in bandages. Liz sat across the room, her legs crossed, hand in her phone, talking to her boyfriend. She would get loud sometimes when they were about to fight and I had to give her an angry look every now and then to remind her why we were here.

I looked over to Cole who was staring blankly at the floor. I wasn't too sure what to say so I kind of did the same he was doing. After a while, Liz stood up snapping me and Cole from our daydream.

"I have to go, I'll explain later. Get better Cole, we'll visit you tomorrow. You should be out soon anyway." She said before rushing out of the room.

He gave a small smile to her and the focused his attention on me. He looked a bit tired but I felt like I had too stay.

"How you feeling?" I said asking my bruised best friend.

"I'm okay. Just want to get out of the hospital, the food here is terrible." He said a small smirk coming on his face.

I laughed quietly at his small joke which made him grin.

"You know I miss hanging out with you." He said after his smile vanished.

"You know I still love you!" I said wrapping my hands around him gently.

"I am pretty loveable."

"You wish." I whispered.

"Wow." He chuckled.

"I'm joking. Your as loveable than any other guy."

"Thought so."

"You fell down the stairs?" He burst out laughing.

"Yes! Don't laugh, it wasn't funny!" I cried.

A few hours later me and Cole sat in the exact same places. We started talking and time flew by. I glanced down at my clock. 5:20pm. My parents would be home soon. Just as I was about to leave a nurse walked in.

"Hello Cole, how are you?" She asked him.

"I'm great." He said giving me a small smile which I returned.

"Visitors have to go. But don't worry sweetheart, you'll be out of hospital soon, about 4 or 5 days then you can return home." She said and then quickly left the room.

I was a bit relived she had came in the room to tell me to go. I wasn't good at leaving people alone and I probably would have stayed for another two hours. Though I wouldn't have mind because the time I spent with Cole this afternoon was worth it.

"Bye Cole, I'll come see you tomorrow." I said getting up.

He gave a smile and then I hugged him softly before running out to my car. I started making my way home. I had realised that I missed Cole so much. We had drifted for a while and I finally felt like his was my best friend again. When I reached my house and started heading towards the door,I stopped when I saw Justin there.

"Hey." He said.

My mood instantly changed when I saw him. My stomach felt funny and my cheeks felt hot and a small smile came across my face. Ugh, why did he have that effect on me?

"Hi. What are you doing here?" I said walking closer to him.

"I wanted to see my favourite girl." He said grabbing my waist and pulling me closer into an embrace.
