"So he gave this all to you?" Natalie asked the next day she went to my home. "Kind of, he just paid for it." I said going through all the books he bought for me. "Are you both official?" Natalie asked grabbing all the books from me and starting stuffing them in my shelf. "What? No." I said quickly. I wish. "You wish?" Natalie asked dropping one of the books. Oh god, did I just say that out loud? "What I meant is-" Natalie cut me out and said, "So you like him?" I would never like Brent McCall. "Maybe, a bit?" I said, confused with my feelings. "But I still need to find out what he's hiding." I said.

The next day I was in school, Michael and Brent was sitting in the same table surrounded by their gang in the cafeteria, which was odd. It's the first time I'm seeing Brent and Michael together, not ending up in a fight. "Brent, can I talk to you for a second?" I asked, pulling him away from his circle. "Oh, Mae. What a surprise, what do you want?" He said gleefully. "I just wanted to say thank you for all the books." I said sheepishly, looking down at my yellow converse. "You said your thanks for a hundredth time now, and besides, that's just not it." He said grabbing both of my hands. What does he mean? "What?" I asked shocked, terrified on what he's going to reply. "What I mean is you should try and adopt it already, cause there'll be more." He said, letting go of my hand. "I'm not even your girlfriend." I said letting a small chuckle. "Baby doll, I think you should re-phrase that. You're not YET my girlfriend, but soon." He said grabbing both of my hands, again, and gently pressed his lips into them, then he left and went back to his gang. I'm not even your girlfriend, yet.

"The Halloween dance is coming," I told Natalie weakly whilst reading the banner that's in every hallway. "Did Brent ask you to the dance?" Natalie asked. I shook my head no in response. "I'll tell you something but don't tell anyone about it," Natalie asked looking at me with excitement. "Nathan asked me out!" She squealed, dragging me inside the classroom. "Nathan? My brother?" I asked confusingly. I never knew they had some sort of likes towards each other. "Yes, and I also heard Brent will ask you out," She said. Why would he ask me out? There are tons of girls who would willingly kill themselves to be asked out by the one and only, Brent McCall. "Huh, you bet." I said, rolling my eyes at Natalie. "I bet all my life." She said confidently and immediately sat down just right after Mr. Tucker went inside the room. "What is he doing here?" Natalie whispered at my left ear. "I have no idea. I'm not his body guard." I joked. "So class, you might be wondering why I'm here," Mr. Tucker walked around and around the room. "Ms. Ruby, who supposedly to be here had an emergency. So for now, I'll be your substitute." He said holding a piece of paper that he grabbed from the table, which I suspect the cover work. "So, Brent, Ms. Ruby wants you to present your poem." Mr. Tucker said, crumpling the paper and throwing it at the bin. Brent stood up from his chair and started reciting his poem;

How did I get a girl like you?

A girl that's smart, pretty and true.

A girl that I can hold tight,

A girl that is "just right"

A girl that can make my sun rise,

And my sun set.

A girl that is nice and wise.

A girl that I'll never forget.

A girl that I can hold for hours.

A girl that I can love forever.

A girl that doesn't need any flowers.

A girl that is very smart and clever.

A girl that goes by the name Mae,

A girl that I'll keep in my soul.

Once, he was done with his poem, and then I realized I was already crying. He run towards me and kneel down in front me, wiping my tears. "Hush, baby doll," He said wiping my tears away. "The poem was for you, and so is this," He said opening a white box with a princess tiara ring in it. He pulled the ring out the box and asked me, "Will you be my date for the Halloween dance?" He said holding the ring up. I nod my head yes, still crying. He kissed the ring and then slipped in my left ring finger. He got up and pulled me into a hug and kissed my forehead.

Forehead kisses are the best.
