Bethany's been trying to go to school, leaving all her problems and trying to concentratre at school since our exams are coming.

"Bethany," I called out at her, removing books from her locker. "Hey, whats up?" She greeted me and started removing books again from her locker. "Nothing much," I said, looking at her as if trying to look inside her heart where she hides all her emotions. "What do you want, Mae?" She asked, slamming her locker door and looked at me, puzzled. "Nothing, I just want to study with you." I said, smiling at her. "Nice try," She said, rolling her eyes and walked away. "Seriously, I want to study with you. Exams are coming!" I said, running towards her and waved all the papers that were in my hand which was test revisions. "Okay," She said, getting inside of her class. "Okay, after school, in my house." I said, waving at her goodbye. "Okay, after school, in your house." She repeated, nodding her head in agreement.

The second bell rang which indicates that I am probably late to class. I was thinking about running but then I realized I have Mr. Tucker for Math so I walk as slow as I could. "Seems like someone's being a bad girl today?" Brent asked out of no where which gave me a fright. "What do you think you're doing? Sneeking up on people and scaring the crap out of them?" I said, hitting him with the papers I'm holding. "Nope, I was just wondering why Mae Tucker is not in class on time," He said, moving from where he was standing and moved infront of me. "None of your bussiness," I said rolling my eyes at him and shoved him. "Why are you like this?" He asked. "Like what Brent?" I asked back. "You know, like you're so sweet to me yesterday and by tomorrow you act like don't know me." He said, walking towards me. "Because I don't know you. For me, you're just a random dude who hangs out with my brother. You're just a random dude that I laid eyes on before and now I can't stop. You're just this random dude who I like and I might love." I said, trying to explain how I feel. He stepped forward, and now we're inches apart. "Mae, I really want to know more about you," He whispered then left me in the middle of the hallway.

I started walking towards Mr. Tucker's class room as fast as I could cause I just wasted half the lesson trying to explain myself to Brent.

I opened the door and the first thing that greeted me was the whole class' noise. "Guess who decided to show up?" Mr. Tucker asked. "Me" I said sarcastically and rolled my eyes at him. "Late slip?" He asked, arching one brow up. "Nope," I said popping the 'p' and sat on a vacant chair. "Give me a reasonable reason that I should let you sit in my class," He said whilst removing his neck tie. "Cause Im your daughter?" I said, arching a brow back at him, challenging him with his own game. "Wrong answer." He said. "Oh yea, I forgot, since you left the house I wasn't your daughter anymore. Sometimes my brain forgets." I said, trying to get the words out of my mouth crystal clear without any feelings.

I waited for twenty minutes before the lesson ends, it feel likes forever.

"Have you seen Bethany?" I asked a guy from one of her class. "I think in the library." Replied the guy. I didn't have the chance to thank him cause all I'm thinking right now is getting out of this hell.

"There you are," I said, bumping into Bethany on my way to the library. "You seem so stressed," She said, putting some books inside her bag. "And that's because I am. Natalie is waiting for us." I said grabbing her arm and pulling her to the parking lot where my car was parked.

The ride from the school to my house was a complete dead silence cause 1) I didn't have the mood to talk and 2) There's nothing really to talk about with Bethany. I'm just trying to keep her away from all her problems at home.

We enetered the house and loud noises greeted us. "What in the world is this?" I asked Nathan who brought Brent and some of their "gang" friends. "You're not the only one who can invite friends," Brent answered for Nathan. "That's because we're studying for the exams! Not some crazy day party." I said, rolling my eyes at them.

I scanned the living room and recognize some people from my class and some of Nathan's friend who he brought here couple of times now, including Brent.

"Can you not tell me that they're staying here all day, are they?" Natalie asked, as I opened my room's door. "I hope not," I said. "We can have fun sometimes with them, we won't study for the rest of the day, won't we?" Bethany asked, stepping inside my room and looking at the shelf where all the books that Brent paid for was placed. "Bethany's right." Natalie said, joining her, looking at the shelf. I rolled my eyes and opened my laptop and started doing my English homework which was a project proposal.

"Hey, how do you spell appeal? One 'p' or two?" I asked, turning my chair around, and to my surprise, I've been alone in my room since God knows when. The door was wide a jar and I assume they're downstairs hanging out with my brother's friend.

I went outside my room and called out Natalie's name. "Natalie!" I called out but there was no answer. "Bethany!" I called out but there was no answer again. I had no choice so I went downstairs and there was no sign of people in the living room. I skimmed the whole house but there was no sign of them.

"Hey there," Brent called, opening the sliding doors which leads to the backyard and pool area. "Where's Bethany and Natalie?" I asked. "They're in the pool," He said and smirked at me, trying to convince me to come with him. He went out through the sliding doors and I followed him. Some of Nathan's friend is setting up the barbeque and some of them are in the pool with Bethany and Natalie playing Volleyball with an inflated ball. I stopped the music and bent over the pool so that Natalie and Bethany could hear me. "I thought we were going to study," I said, pouting my lips like a little girl. "We thought so too." They both said in unison. "Mae," They both mentioned my name and pointed behind me. Before I could see what or who's behind me, I was already in the pool, my dressed soaked. "Who in the world did that?" I asked, my voice breaking. But no one seemed to have heard me cause the music started blasting again.

"You okay baby doll?" Brent asked as I was wrapped in my towel, drinking lemonade. "You pushed me," I said, rolling my eyes at him. "No I didn't." He said, denying the fact that he did. "Barbeques done!" James, one of Nathan's and Brent's friend shouted out.

"What the hell is this?" My mom asked, walking out of the sliding doors. She seemed mad. "I had nothing to do with this," I said, walking towards her and standing besdie her trying to be the innocent one, cause I am the innocet one here. "Just a bunch of my friends," Nathan replied and started walking towards mom. He was about to hug her when mom said, "At eight sharp, y'all should be inside." Then she walked inside the house as if she didn't just saw a bunch of teen agers having a barbeque slash pool slash day party at her very own backyard.
