As always, I sat at the back of Mr. Tucker's class I just don't want to see my dad's face. "Hey," Someone tapped my shoulder; I glance at my left side and saw the new guy, Michael. "Um, do you have a pen?" He asked, shaking his blonde curls. "Yea, sure." I said fishing for an extra pen inside my bag. "Here," I said giving it to him. He looked at me and said, "Thanks." Then he winked at me. That wink was pretty darn attractive. He maybe was like a Greek god. I shook my head to comeback in reality. Just when I was about to hand in my assignment, the door opened. "Mr. McCall, late again." Mr. Tucker said glaring at the late Brent. Brent sat next to me, he had no choice, and he was late. Neither do I. "Very good Mae." Mr. Tucker complimented my work. As I was heading back to my seat, Violet, my cheerleading teammate approached me. "Um, I just have a question for number two." Violet asked me, but instead of listening to her, I listen at Brent's and Michael's conversation. "Don't you dare touch her, or even an inch from her." Brent growled. "You don't have a right to say that, you're not even his girlfriend, not even a friend." Michael teased Brent. "Just don't, you'll know what'll happen next." Brent warned. "I won't for now." Michael said ending their conversation, I'd rather say, argument. "I'm sorry Violet, I can't help you." I said grabbing my bag and stuff from my desk. "Where are you going?" Brent asked grabbing my palm. "Definitely out here." I said pushing his hand off my palm. "What are you trying to do Mae?" Mr. Tucker stopped me from opening the door. "Dad, not now please. Can I just go?" I asked him politely. That's the first time I called him dad again, since like forever. I opened the door and without knowing where I'm heading, I went inside the bathroom. I faced the mirror, and to my surprise, I started crying, but why? Before I can answer my own question, someone opened the door. "What are you doing here?" I asked Brent who was now next to me, both of us staring at ourselves in the mirror. "Why are you crying?" He said grabbing me by my shoulders and started tilting me, so now I'm facing him. "Nothing." I said wiping my tears using my sleeves. "I know there's something," He said wiping my tears with his hand. He's not that really bad. "And I don't want to know why you're sad." He added. "Come with me." He grabbed my hand and dragged me to his car. "Where are we going?" I asked, still sounding from crying. "You'll know." He said turning his car engine on and driving away from school. "Barns and Noble?" I asked with joy "Yup." He said popping the 'p'. "I know you love books, get anything, I'll pay for it." He said. "How'd you know?" I asked before I was lost in my own wonderland of books.
"Thank you so much. How can I even repay you?" I said, while the cashier was scanning all the books I took. "No need to repay me. Just promise me that whenever you're feeling down, frustrated, and in danger, call me." He said grabbing two bags full of books. "How'd you know I love books?" I asked. "I guess that's what they call soul mates."
