"Hey," I greeted Brent as I walked into his hospital room. His arm was in a cast and from what I saw, it's worse.
"You're here," Brent said, surprised.
"Yup, I'm here," I said waving to him. "Natalie told me you slid the staircase." I said and sat beside him. "So, how's your arm?" I asked.
"It's fine. Nothing that I can't handle." He joked and winked at me.
"Oh," I said and looked at his broken arm. It seemed worse for me but I knew Brent can handle it.
A knock on the door came after my thirty minutes being with Brent. It was Brent's mom.
"Hi mom," Brent greeted as she approached us. I stood up to pay some respect and before I could introduced myself, Brent did it for me.
"Mom this is Mae, a friend of mine." Brent introduced me to her mom, smiling.
"Glad to finally meet you Mae," Brent's mom said and offered a hand shake. I shook her hands and said, "You too Mrs. McCall."
"Call me Mona. My husband and I are separated so I prefer to being called Mona." She said.
"Oh okay, Mona." I said. It's weird for me to call elder people by their first name cause it sounds like we're just some sort of friends but she insisted.
It's really weird cause I've never met Brent's mom before even during the time when Emily was still alive.
"Mrs. McCall, I mean Mona, how come Emily never mentioned you?" I asked sheepishly.
"You're a friend of her?" She asked, amused. I nodded my head in response.
"Emily lived with her dad, we never really got along until the last week of her life. It was tough when I lose her." She said tears running down her face.
"I'm sorry." I apologized. I don't know why I apologized. Is it because Emily died or because her own son did it to her daughter. Life can be complicated.
I shook my head and erased the thought of Brent killing her own sister. I mean it was an accident.

I left the hospital and headed home. As always my mom was waiting for me at the front porch reading a magazine.
"Hey mom," I greeted. "Been waiting for me?" I asked my mom, giving her a hug and a kiss.
"What took you so long Mae?" My mom asked, glancing at her wrist watch.
"Visited Brent at the hospital," I said.
"What happened to him?" She asked concerned.
"Oh nothing he can't handle." I said mimicking Brent's respond a while ago. I headed to my room and started doing some school work.
*ping*
I glanced at my phone and saw a message from Brent. how is he able to type if his arm is broken? I asked myself. I replied him with the same question I asked myself. he then replied sarcastically, my arm is broken not my hands, i laughed at his response. He's kinda right.

After 2 weeks, Brent got released from the hospital but he was still in a cast. Unfortunately he can't drive his car nor write notes, maybe the writing notes was a fortunate one.
"Ugh I have Math first lesson," I said complaining.
"I have detention every first lesson and you don't see me complaining," Natalie said. She has detention every first lesson for a week because of being late to class every lesson and for being disrespectful towards the teacher. Its very unlikely of her, but she's Natalie what can we do?
