Chapter 23: Paint Fight

I woke up in a happy mood. A very happy mood. I sat up and combed my fingers through my soft blonde hair. "Morning beautiful." A manly raspy voice said from my left, causing me to jump. Me: "Oh, hey Justin. Morning." I smiled, he returned it, making my heart skip a beat. Me: "So, I'm gonna go take a shower. You gonna hump the floor again?" I laughed. Justin: "I don't know. Do you find that attractive?" I laughed again. Me: "Yes, a guy humping the floor is VERY attractive." Justin: "Alright then. I'm gonna do it." I roll my eyes and go to the bathroom.

*JUSTIN'S POV*

I watched as she walked across the room and into the bathroom. Tomorrow's gonna be the best day ever. I'm gonna kiss Melani, interruptions or not. I couldn't help but smile at that thought. I jumped up and went downstairs, everyone was awake already. Mom, Ryan, and Chaz stayed the night, and Jazzy came early in the morning because dad and Erin needed someone to babysit. It was a full house. Sara: "Good morning, Justin." Me: "Morning everyone." Jack: "Is Melani awake?" Me: "She's in the shower." Snickers came from the living room, where the guys were playing video games. I roll my eyes. Me: "So, what's for breakfast?" I ask before kissing mom's cheek. Sara: "Eggs and hotdogs." I nod and take a seat next to Ryan. They were playing Super Mario... "Morning everyone!" Her beautiful voice rang through the cabin. Everyone: "Morning Melani." She plops down on the other couch next to Alex. [haven't mentioned him in a while...] Melani: "Super Mario, huh? I'm PRO at mini games." She laughs. Ryan: "Yeah? I'd like to see you beat me." Melani: "Bring it." She winks. God that was sexy. Alex hands her the remote and she switches places with Chaz so she's next to Ryan. Ryan: "Game on! Let's make a bet. Whoever loses has to be the other person's maid for a week." Melani: "Alright, but I thought you were leaving on Wednesday.." [It's monday :P] Ryan: "Nah, we're leaving on Sunday." She nods. Melani: "Well, in that case, you're on." They shake hands and the game begins. There were woops when someone got ahead of the other person. It was going back and forth. In the end, Melani won. Ryan was speechless, his mouth hung down and his eyes bugged out. Chaz: "Ryan lost!" We laugh. Alex: "Never underestimate the power of my sister!" He high fives her. Jack: "Alright kids. Breakfast is ready." We all stood up and ran to the table. They extended the table so there was room. I pulled out the chair for Melani. Melani: "Thanks." She smiles and I sit down. Me: "Mhm." Becca folds her arms and stares at me. Me: "What?" She rolls her eyes. Becca: "So you pull the chair out for your girlfriend but not your own cousin. Gee thanks." Me: "She's not my girlfriend..." Ryan&Chaz: "Yet." They chimed in. I roll my eyes.

Sara: "Settle down.. Now let's pray." We all connect hands and bow our heads. Sara: "Thank you god for this wonderful meal. We are blessed to have this. Amen." Everyone: "Amen." Everyone started digging in and before you know it, the plates are practically empty. Ryan: "Ahh... That was good Mrs. Bieber." Sara: "Why thank you, Ryan." He smiles. Chaz burps. Chaz: "Oops. Sorry." Melani laughs. Only Melani. That kinda ticked me off. She's being all giggly for Chaz. Jealousy came easy to me. I've always hated that about me. Jack: "Are you guys gonna work on the coop today?" Becca: "Yep. We just need one more side painted and we're done." Sara: "Well that's good." She nods. Ryan: "What coop?" Becca: "There's a chicken coop outside and we've been working on it all summer." He nods. Ryan: "Can I help out?" Becca: "Sure." She smiles and plays with her hair. Typical girl thing. It was weird when Becca did it, but when Melani did it, I got pissed. She's flirting with Chaz after she told me that she likes me. I shouldn't be mad because we're not even dating yet! Hell, we haven't even kissed. And who knows what Chaz will do? He likes her too. But he has no idea how I feel about her. I watched as she giggles at something he said. She doesn't like him. She doesn't like him. I repeated in my head over and over again. Something about the way she giggled left me unconvinced about that. I sigh and stare blankly at the tv screen. Ryan: "Yo Justin. Wanna play?" Me: "Nah." He gives me a weird look but then asks Alex if he wants to play. Me: "I'll just be at the waterfall if anyone needs me." They nod and I go upstairs and change into my swim trunks. I walk downstairs without my shirt on and Melani doesn't even notice. My face drops and I shuffle out the door. Swimming always calms me down. I did a few laps then just floated behind the waterfall. The forest was full today. I mean, there were chipmunks running around and birds flying around the treetops. No matter what I looked at, Melani's face popped up in my mind. I came here to try to get her off my mind but, hell, nothing could. She's everything I've ever wanted. And when I found out she was my Melly, I couldn't help but fall even more for her. "You okay?" Someone said from the other side of the lake. I looked up and saw Melani standing there with her arms crossed. Me: "Fine. Just great." I sigh but the noise of the waterfall blocked it out. I swam back to shore but didn't get out. Me: "What are you doing here?" Melani: "Why can't I be here? Do you want me to go?" Me: "No, I want you to stay.. But you looked like you were having fun with Chaz..." I looked behind her, I thought that maybe Chaz was tagging along but no one was around. She sighs and sits on the edge of the dock. Melani: "I was... But he tried kissing me. So I left." That got me angry. Me: "Oh." was all I said. Melani: "Yeah." It was quiet after that. The only sounds were the waterfall and nearby chipmunks. I hauled myself onto the dock and sat next to her. Me: "Right. So, tomorrow, you said you were going to the beach. Mind if I tag along?" She doesn't know that I know it was her birthday. Every year since I left her, July 6th was a sad day. I always had tons of flashbacks. Even when I pretended that I didn't remember her. I tried calling her when we were ten but she never answered. I yelled at her, and then lost my best friend. That was the worst mistake of my life. Melani: "Sure why not?" She smiles. Becca told me to bring her to the beach at 10. We were gonna hang there then we had a surprise for her after. Me: "Kay cool." I looked around and my mind wandered back to all the moments where we almost kissed. That happens everytime we're alone. I thought of kissing her right now, but I'm saving that for her birthday. I've got the perfect present for her. She lays her head on my shoulder, startling me. Melani: "You smell like the sun." She laughs. Me: "And you smell like... Strawberries." I like strawberries. Have I mentioned that before? Melani: "I know. It's my shampoo." "CANNONBALL!" Someone screamed before jumping into the lake. The person popped up and we saw it was Ryan. Way to ruin the moment, Ryan. More and more people jumped in, and soon we were surrounded by the Bieber family. Melani: "Well, the moment was cool while it lasted." She stood up, dusting herself off. Me: "Where are you going?" Melani: "Swimming." She grinned, slipping her shirt off, revealing her purple and black bikini top. God, why'd she have to do that right in front of me?! Me: "You do know that's torture, right?" Oh god. That just slipped out of my mouth. She laughs. Melani: "Well, I do now." She sticks her tongue out at me then slips off her PJ pants. She climbed up to the top of the waterfall. She practically glowed in the sunshine. I watched as she grabbed onto the rope hanging from the treetops and swung onto it, dropping down into the body of water below. Chaz: "Come on, man! It feels great!" I was still pissed at him for almost kissing Melani but I jumped in anyway. We all splashed around for an hour or so then we all got tired and went back inside. Jazmyn: "That was fun!" She squealed, clapping her hands. Becca: "Woo! Yeah, haven't had that kind of family time in a long time." She laughed. Sam[lmfao, Becca's brother, remember? :P]: "I know! It was awesome!" Sara: "Alright, well go get changed so you can finish the coop." Becca groans. Becca: "You just ruined the moment, mom." Sara laughs. Sara: "I know. But go change." Becca groans again but listens to her mother.
