Chapter 39: Are You Justybear?

*PREVIOUSLY*

Melani asks if Justin is JustyBear.

*JUSTIN'S POV*

I froze when she asked that. Becca told me not to tell her, or else she'd kill me. Both of them. Me: "Err, no. JustyBear's your teddy." Melani: "Justin I'm serious. Are you the JustyBear that I knew in fourth grade?" She had a little bit of anger bubbling up in her eyes. Me: "No." I answer straightly. I just lied to Melani. Guilt rushed through my body. The anger in her eyes go away. Melani: "Okay." She smiles. Me: "So, um, I'm gonna go talk to Becca about Brennan." She nods and helps me back into the wheel chair. Me: "Thanks. I got it from here." Melani: "You sure?" I nod and wheel off towards Becca. She was flirting with Brennan but when she saw the look on my face, she turned towards me. Becca: "What's up Justin?" Me: "Melly." She stares. Becca: "Um, Brennan.. I have to talk with Justin. Alone." Brennan nods and walks away. Becca: "What happened now?" Me: "She asked if I was JustyBear." She got wide eyes. Becca: "What'd you say?" Me: "No. But I don't like lying to her Becca. She deserves to know." Becca sighs. Becca: "You can't tell her. Not yet. I mean, sure she misses him NOW... But when she starts to remember what you did, she'll hate your guts." Me: "What did I do? I mean, besides leave her?" She sighs. Becca: "You'll remember sooner or later." Then she walks away towards Brennan. What DID I do? I sigh and roll back to Melani. Me: "When are we leaving?" She looks at the clock. Melani: "About another hour." I nod. Me: "Wanna go play video games?" Melani: "Do you wanna?" Me: "If you want to.." Melani: "Come on." She helps me up the stairs, and oddly, I had no pain. We went over to that Spencer guy's room. Spencer: "Hey Mels. Bieber." He narrows his eyes at me. Melani throughs a nearby pillow at him. Melani: "Be nice!" Spencer sticks his tongue out at her. Melani: "Don't make me cut your tongue off." She laughs. Melani: "Anyway, what are you playing now?" Drew: "NBA 2k10. You wouldn't know that stuff." Melani: "Actually, I do. Justin's a beast at playing that." She laughs. They scoff. Josh: "Psh. Yeah right. I'm the KING at this." Melani: "I smell a challenge!" She sings out. Allen: "Bring it." Me: "Aiight then." They hand me a controller and the game starts. The dudes cheered on Josh while Melani stayed on my side. She comes up behind me and gently wraps her arms around my waist and lays her head on my shoulder. Melani: "You can beat these douches, baby." She whispers in my ear. Baby. She called me baby. And she's hugging me. Now that's what I call motivation. I stick my tongue out of the corner of my mouth and play hard. [LMFAO] Allen: "Oh! Oh! OH!" He's been doing that for the past five minutes and I was about to throw the controller at him and yell "SHUT THE FUCK UP!" But I didn't wanna get out of Melani's warm embrace. We ended the game, I won. Drew: "OOOHH! Josh got stomped." Josh: "Oh shut up." Melani: "I told ya." She stuck her tongue out at them. Lisa: "KIDS! Come downstairs!" We groan and start heading downstairs. Melani: "Yeah Aunt Lisa?" Lisa: "The party's over." Melani: "Um, okay?" Becca walks into the room with Brennan. Becca: "Let's go, Mels." She yawns. Melani: "Kay. You ready, Justin?" She turns to me. I nod. Melani: "Alright. Thanks Aunt Lisa. Happy birthday again Sierra!" Sierra smiles and hugs her and Becca. Sierra: "Thanks Justin. This was the best birthday ever! But can I have a picture and autograph?" She giggles. Me: "Sure." I kiss her cheek for the picture, and sign her stuff. Sierra: "Thank you!" She hugs me and follows us to the door. Melani: "Bye guys! See you next time." We walk to Mary's car and get in. Becca: "So, hospital?" We nod. Becca: "Great." She groans. We drive to the hospital, and Melani falls asleep on my lap. Me: "She's asleep." I whisper. Becca: "Okay. So what should we do about the JustyBear thing?" I sigh. Me: "I don't know. But when can I tell her?" Becca: "A few weeks before you leave." Me: "But that'd be like telling her I love her and then leaving." Becca: "Well, she hates you already, what's a little more hate gonna do?" Me: "A lot." I pull an annoyed face and stare out at the road. I hate hiding something from Melani. Especially if I have to lie about someone she may possibly love. I just hope her anger dies down before I tell her. Then we can be best friends again. Becca pulled into the hospital parking lot. Becca: "Mels wake up!" Me: "Shut up! You needa wake her up gently." I whisper loudly. She rolls her eyes. Becca: "Just get her awake." She gets out of the car. Me: "Mels. Wake up..." I gently shake her. Melani: "Too tired..." She groans. Me: "C'mon. We're at the hospital now." She shakes her head. Melani: "Nothing's gonna make me wake up." I chuckle and lean down to kiss her. She smiles and kisses back passionately. She wraps her arms around my neck and pulls me closer. Becca: "Come on you two! Stop making out and get the fuck outta this car!" We ignore her and continue our business. My stomach started getting pain from bending down so I pull back and smile. Me: "You awake now?" I whisper. She bites her lip and nods. Me: "Good. Now come on." She sits up and helps me into my wheelchair. Becca: "FINALLY!" Me: "Oh shut up. We didn't interrupt you with that Brennan dude." I glare at her. Melani: "Come you two. I'm sure we're all just tired and now we're grumpy. Please don't argue for the sake of our sleep." She pleads. Me and Becca agree and we go into the hospital. The place was deserted and kinda creepy. Melani: "Um, let's just hurry to the hospital room." We scurry back to my room. Melani: "Becca can you stay here with me?" Becca: "Yeah yeah whatever." She plops onto the couch and immediately closes her eyes. Melani helps me into the bed and lays next to me. Melani: "What you did for Sierra was so nice." She smiles and lays her head on my shoulder. Me: "Well, she's your cousin... It's no big deal." She doesn't answer. I look down and see her asleep. I chuckle softly and kiss her head. Me: "Night Melly." I wasn't tired so I turn on the tv. Nothing good was on so I decide to just watch Melani sleep. My phone vibrates. "Yo man, u awake?" It was Ryan. "Yea. Why?" "Scooter said we can go visit u. We meaning me and Chaz." "Oh k cool. When?" "Saturday." Today's Thursday so it's all good. "Alrite then. Cya sat." I put my phone away and lay my head on Melani's. Butterflies settled in my stomach when she nuzzled my neck. I still can't believe that this is Melly. After all these years, I found her. I mean, she doesn't know who I am yet but it's still all cool. I smile and close my eyes, slowly falling asleep.
