Chapter 22: 4th Of July Part 3

Sara: "Oh my gosh, what happened?!" She was checking my legs and everything. Me: "Nothing happened to my legs, Sara. Justin just wanted to carry me.. But I got slapped." She looked at my cheek that was now throbbing and probably looked really gross. Sara: "Who did this?!" Me: "Some guy named Chase.." She nodded. Jack: "But it's okay now. Beach security took him away." She put her hand on her heart. Sara: "Thank god.. He won't hurt Melani anymore." She smiled and Justin set me down. Justin: "Sit down. Imma go get some ice." I nod and he goes off. Becca and Ryan sit on both sides of me. Becca: "Oh my god! Chase did it again?!" I nodded. Ryan&Chaz: "Who's Chase?" Becca: "Some wacko who keeps slapping her." They got pissed but didn't do anything. Chaz: "Are you alright though?" He stared at my cheek. Me: "Yeah. Well besides the pain and throbbing, I'm good." We laughed. Chaz: "That guy is a douche for slapping a girl. Especially a pretty one." He smiled. Justin: "Here ya go!" He looked at Chaz with a weird expression. He carefully pressed the ice bag to my cheek. It stinged a bit but I managed to stay still. Chaz: "So, you got a boyfriend?" Me: "Nope." He smiled. Chaz: "Oh. Okay. I don't get how a pretty girl like you doesn't have one though." Justin glared at him. Ha. Jealous much? Me: "Relationships don't really work out for me." It was true. My first boyfriend cheated on me, my second one used me to get someone jealous, and my last one abused me. I swore that I'd never date someone until I could fully trust him with all my heart. Chaz: "Aww I'm sorry to hear that." Chaz was really different from what Justin told me. He said that Chaz was pervy. I haven't heard him make a pervy remark the whole time he was here. Becca: "I swear, if I ever see that douche again, imma kill him." I laughed. Then we saw Caitlin walking this way and my smile faded. Becca: "Speaking of the she-devil." She mumbled. I giggled. Caitlin: "Hey guys!" She smiled. The guys mumbled hi's and looked around like they weren't interested. Caitlin: "What're you doing here?" She sat by Chaz. Ryan: "Jeremy brought us along." She nodded while staring at Chaz. God she's weird. Chaz: "Yeah, uh, so we're just gonna go play some football. Bye." He stood up in a hurry and pulled Ryan and Justin away. Becca: "Oh great. Leave us with the she-devil." She mumbles. Caitlin glares at her. Caitlin: "Anyway, I just wanna say. Melani, I know you like Justin but he doesn't like you. I'll have you know that Justin still likes me. He told me so at the ice cream parlour. So just back off and everything will be fine." She faked a smile. Me: "Whatever. I don't like Justin." Lie. Caitlin: "Oh don't go there. We all know that you like Justin." I rolled my eyes. Me: "I don't like Justin okay?!" I stood up and so did she. Caitlin: "Stop fucking lying! Stay away from my man!" She pulled her hand back and slapped me. Oh great. Another slap. On the SAME fucking cheek. I grabbed her hair and clutched it. Me: "You better not fucking touch me again. Now go if you want to live." I growled. She rolls her eyes and goes off, clutching her head. Becca: "God I hate her.." She said, appearing at my side. Me: "Yeah so do I." I held my cheek and sat back down. Justin: "Hey, I heard yelling. Are you okay?" I looked up and he got wide eyes. Justin: "Are you okay?!" He sat on the other side of me and examined my cheek. Justin: "It's really swollen now... I don't think a kiss will make it better this time." He smiles weakly. Me: "I'm fine... Don't worry." Another lie. It hurt like hell but I didn't wanna ruin his Fourth of July by making him stay by me and help me. He sighs. Justin: "Alright... But try to stay away from her." I nod and he goes back to the guys. Seeing Caitlin got me thinking. Why isn't Christian here with her? I mean, they're siblings right?

*JUSTIN'S POV*

I sat by the rocks watching Chaz and Ryan toss the football around. Chaz: "So, Melani huh?" He looked at me. Ryan: "Dude, you know that Justin likes her. Don't steal her away." He laughs. Chaz: "I know. But it's funny seeing Justin get jealous." He stuck his tongue out at me. Justin: "Hah hah. Sooo funny." I said with a straight face. I get jealous easily, especially with a girl I really like. And he knows that. It's already 5:45 and it's almost sunset. I was thinking of kissing Melani tonight, but if we get interrupted, I swear, imma kill that person. My mind wandered away and now I was lost in daydream land. There was only one thing on my mind. Melani Ann Summers. She says she hasn't had her first kiss yet. Doesn't she remember that day on the beach? I still remembered that day. It was engraved in my memory. It was an accident but ever since that day, I've been more in love with her. I've forgotten about the feeling of it. "Heads up!" A voice rang through my head and I snapped out of dreamland only to find a football coming straight for me. There wasn't enough time to move out of the way so I ended being hit right between my eyes. I flinched and held my nose. Ryan and Chaz came running over to me. Chaz: "Sorry, man. That was a little too hard." I nodded. Me: "Ya think?" I stood up and went back to the picnic area with blood on my hands. Melani and Becca were laughing and joking until they saw me. Becca: "Dude! What happened?!" They ran over to me. Me: "Uh, Chaz threw the football a little too hard." Melani: "Oh wow... Didn't you see it coming?" Her head tilted like a chihuahua does. Me: "Yeah. At the last moment." She laughs, making my heart thud. Melani: "Figures. You need a haircut.. No wonder you didn't see it." Justin: "Nuh-uh. No one touches my hair. It's perfectly fine this way." She rolls her eyes and ruffles up my hair. Now normally, I would've gotten ticked off at the person for doing that, but in this case, I was turned on. Me: "Uh.. Uh, uh..." was all I said. God that was stupid. Mom[Pattie]: "My god, Justin what happened?" Me: "Uh. Chaz kinda threw the football a little too hard." She shook her head slowly. Mom: "This boy, what am I gonna do with him?" She said, turning to Melani and Becca and laughing. Me: "Well, ANYWAY, I've got a bloody nose to fix." We continued walking to the food table for napkins. Melani: "Sit down." She ordered. I did as told and Becca sat with me while Melani went for napkins. Becca: "So, you gonna kiss her tonight?" I sighed. Me: "I'll try to." Becca: "What do you mean?" Me: "Everytime we try to kiss, someone or something interrupts us." Becca: "Ah... I see. Well, you better kiss her on her birthday. Interruptions or not, you're doing it. Okay?" Me: "But I want it to be romantic.. She says she's never had her first kiss before." Becca: "Well, then make it romantic. Do anything. Puh-lease I'm begging you! It'll be so sweet 'cause you know, JustyBear and Melly reunite.." She winks. Becca: "But now's not the time to tell her, okay?" I nod. Me: "But-" Then Melani comes and I never got to finish my sentence. Melani: "Okay, got some napkins. Hold still." She sat down and Becca nudged me before getting up. Becca: "Alright, imma go hang with the boys. Byeeee." She smiles then skips off to the boys. I looked at her while she dabbed at my nose. Melani: "What were you doing anyway?" Me: "Uh... I was daydreaming.." She laughs. Melani: "About what?" Me: "Things..." Melani: "Things like what?" Me: "You're nosy, you know that?" Melani: "Don't change the subject." She smirks. Me: "I was thinking about candy." She stares at me. Melani: "Liar." She announced. Me: "Oh whatever. Am I cleaned up?" She nodded. Me: "Thanks." Melani: "No problemo." Jazmyn: "Mewani Mewani! Wanna pway wing awound the wosy?" [lmfao lots of w's] Melani: "Sure Jazzy. C'mon." She smiles and follows Jaz down to the beach. I watched them spin around and around then fall down, laughing. She looked even cuter when she laughed. They got back up and repeated the process. "So you're stalking her now, huh?" A voice said from beside me. I turned and saw Ryan smirking. Me: "I can't help it. She's just so beautiful." Ryan: "She likes you." He decided. Me: "And?" Ryan: "And? Make your move!" Me: "I've been trying to kiss her, but someone always interrupts." He laughs. Ryan: "Ah, yeah I know how that feels." I nod and look back at Melani and Jaz who were walking around like drunk people, laughing. I couldn't help but laugh too. Ryan: "Well, good luck man." He pats my back and walks off towards Becca. "WATERFIGHT!" Chaz announced, spraying Melani with a water bottle. She screams and chases him down the beach. I laugh and grab some ice. I creep over to Ryan's back. Becca sees me and I hold a finger to my lips. In one quick motion, I pulled his shorts and stuffed the ice down. He jumped up and screamed. Ryan: "Bieber." He glared. I laughed and started running back to the picnic area for some more water stuff. I looked around and grabbed one of Jazmyn's buckets. Ryan was looking for me and I ran to the ocean, scooping up a pail of water. I laughed and came up behind Chaz, dumping it on his head. Me: "Gotcha!" I laughed and ran back to the water scooping more water up. Ryan and Chaz chased me around, throwing water at me. I laughed but then I saw Melani and Becca ahead of me. With a bucket of water. Uh oh. I'm trapped. Becca: "Get him!" She laughed evily. Ryan and Chaz poured a bucket of ice cold water on me. Me: "Shit! That's cold!" They laughed and went to get some more water.
