Reasons

The start

Ricks warm breath began to suffocate Carol as Rick began to move closer to her, his large left hand still cupped her small face and began to shake slightly with nerves. With only a breath between them the front door slammed shut and Lori's loud complaining about people being ungrateful was heard and cause the duo to jump back in shock. Putting his hand on Carols he stared at the door keeping watch for his wife,

"Rick..." Carol began only to be shushed by the man whilst she removed her hand from his and started to stand.

"Oh hi Carol what are you doing here?" Lori rushed out forcing a smile towards the shorter woman whilst trying to hold back more of her yells and complaints. Carol explained about just wanting to see how they were doing considering that she no longer lived so close and asked to use their phone.

"Look Carol I need to..." Daryl rushed trying to explain himself,

"Daryl, Ed came, I'm just... you are the only person I can trust right now" Carol interrupted with tears starting to stream down her face from fear of remembering the day's events.

Daryl sighed in guilt and told her that he would come get her from the Grimes household and that their home was safe now. Carol felt a warmth in her heart as I announced it as their home. Still talking to her on the phone Daryl walked to his car, he then shouted in anger as he kicked the flat tire residing on the front of his car. Walking to the trunk he quickly came to his sense and backed away from the car and asked Carol to ask Rick for a lift as he couldn't.

The tension in the five seater could have been cut with a knife whilst the duo sat in awkward silence, the only noise being occasional screaming or laughing from random children on the street. Left, straight, stop light, Carol listed off as they passed them trying to distract herself from the fact that she was returning to the place where her husband had found her and came after her as well as sitting in a car with a married man who less than twenty minutes ago tried to kiss her. Her copying mechanism was soon destroyed as Rick took the wrong exit and pulled up on the side of the road outside a deserted shop. Opening her mouth to question the sheriff, Rick quickly beat her to the punch

"Carol – look, I like you I know I shouldn't, I mean you were the young mother moving across the road from me ten years ago with a happy toddler walking in between your legs too shy to stop hiding from behind mommy. Then you laughed and it was the first step of falling for you, when Ed came up behind you and announced you were his wife you must have been able to tell I was shocked because how could someone like him get you. I saw the signs; I mean we all did but I'm the officer I should have helped yet I just watched him destroy you a little bit more every day. I think Lori figured it out before I did, figured out that I was in love with you. I used to plead to pick up Carl just so I could see you again, I'm always late for work because I waited for you to come round and spend some time seeing you relax" During his speech Rick had moved closer to the woman and placed his hand on her neck drawing her closer.

"Rick – Lori..." Carol began trying to distance herself,

"been cheating with Shane for four months, it's partly my fault because I don't love her anymore like I used to but now we can try and be together". Their lips met briefly in a short kiss with Rick pulling back wearing a large smile and proceeded to hold her hand as he drove.

Daryl was waiting outside by his car for her and quickly embraced her in hug as soon as he saw her, hiding her face in his chest meaning that she couldn't see the jealous glare from the man who had kissed her. The trio stood in silence with Carol still tightly against Daryl.

"Well thanks Rick" he grumbled out as he lead the scared woman up the stairs to their home, arriving in the apartment Carol promptly broke into sobs once again clinging to Daryl.

Looking down to her he began to talk until Carol jumped and attacked kissing him harshly and passion trying to portrayed as much as she could to him about how she felt. His hands immeadiately went to ass and cupped and followed as Carol guided him to the couch. He was pushed down and she climbed on his life with no moment to spare and made quick work of his belt, chucking it anywhere as she no longer cared. His large rough hands glided up her to towards her chest attempting to remove her top only to be stopped and told that she wanted to keep her shirt on. Thinking that she only wanted to kiss he moved his hands back to her ass, Carol quickly lost her patience and unzipped his jeans showing him once again what she wanted. He got the message quickly and continued groping her, Carols hands began wondering up his chest but Daryl grbbed them and stared into her eyes

"Ditto about the top babe" he slurred drunk on lust with a wink.

Holding her tightly to his chest in the aftermath glow of sex with sweat covering both of them whilst he drew lazy patterns on her back with his finger tip. At a sudden Carol got up, resting her arms on his chest looking up to his eyes.

"Is this it for you?" Carol questioned quieting becoming self conscious and shy as she implied that she was good enough to be with him forever. Lifting her head ith a single finger

"I have waited too goddamn long for us to not be forever babe, I love you and nothing or no one is going to change that" Daryl grumbled out wearing a lazy smile.

The Duo returned to their previous positions and let the smiles fall off their face as guilt suffocated them, one guilty about sharing a kiss with somebody else and the other worrying about the dead body in the trunk of his car...

Sorry the update took so long, honestly I forgot about this as my internet friends used to tell me to write more and give me courage to keep writing, due to us no longer talking I lost inspiration. For the chapter being so small I had to cut a pretty large sex scene out of the chapter as I was unsure whether to keep it or not. My writing style has also changed so I hope you still enjoyed, feedback is wildly appreciated and any questions feel free to ask.
