Carol stayed behind as Rick and Shane left due to Daryls request to talk to her, staring at the floor she heard Daryl mutter something under his breath. "What?" Carol questioned unsure if she was asking abiut what he wanted or what he said, "What happened to the girl i loved?" Daryl said once more but louder. This wasn't what he wanted to talk about but he blurted the question out before he could stop himself, she used to be this bright bubbly loud young woman but now she was scared of her own shadow.

It was his first day at the new school or shit hole as Merle used to call it, he needed an education so he could change the family's name and be someone. Walking in he knew it was going to be hell he was poor and showed it with his ever growing hair, torn dirty clothing and the cheapness of anything he owned. Arriving at his locker he opened it only to slam it shut with fustration when he heard the whispers as he turned he saw a girl opposite taking out books, the smile on his face appeared when she turned and he caught a glimpse of her. Her name he didn't know but he knew that she was beautiful making her way out of his league, she probably even had a boyfriend who he would beat up if he thought he had a chance with her. Entering his first class he took the first empty seat he saw nearest to the back so he was not noticed, looking at the desk he took out his book  to write his notes in only realising he didn't have a pencil or pen to write with. To solve his problem Darly decided to glare at the table ignoring the world around him, not even noticing the seat next to him being occupied. The scraping of the chair didn't faze Daryl until he felt a tap on his shoulder disturbing him from the anger turning his glare to his desk partner only to widen his eyes and blush looking sheepishly at the table as he saw the girl he had immediately crushed on when he first saw her. The table was the most interesting thing in the world to Daryl at this moment as he faintly heard the teacher begin to speak but was unable to take notes.He watched as a pink pencil was pushed into his view, looking up at the beauty next to him and saw she was facing straight ahead with a smile on her face. Accepting the pencil with a smile he started to write down his notes.

"Daryl.....?" Carol questioned coming to realise that he was the Daryl from high school and so many questions came to mind but just as she was about to ask she was interrrupted by a loud stomping and a furious Ed clutching her arm. Daryl watched as Carol was angrily dragged home and Sophia following, as they stormed in the house. "You whore i knew you were cheating on me and with that redneck bastard from high school" Ed shouted as he shoved Carol crashing onto the table and began to beat her. His anger showed as he continuely kicked her making Sophia run towards the Grimes house shouting Daryl to help as she ran back across the street being crashing down by a speeding car sending her to her death. Running Daryl scooped up the little girl in his arms racing towards her house walking in on the beating happening, "Phone an ambulance" he shouted anger coursing through his body as he performed CPR on the dying little girl. This was pointless as when the paramedics arrived they declared her death.
