As soon as she was in the house she heard the ringing of the phone and sent Sophia upstairs to her room as she answered it. "nice of you to answer" Eds disgusting voice echoed through the phone making Carol cringe the conversation went in this manner until the door of Eds hotel room was knocked and he hung up on her. Emotions tackled the woman as she fell to the floor in a ball and began sobbing uncontrollably hating herself for every second she stayed with this man remembering how they got close even with the obstacles.

Standing at her locker she felt weird and uncomfortable as she wasn't receiving any stares from the Dixon as she had heard he got into a fight and was in hospital. Her friendship group soon surrounded her including a new member Ed Peletier who joined through a mutual friend, he was nice and never bullied Daryl making her like him but today he looked like he was about to break down into tears. As the group dispersed Carol cornered Ed and dragged him into an empty classroom, she asked, no, demanded to know what was wrong with him. Slowly he revealed that his mom had divorced his dad leaving them both both broken hearted, and her heart broke as she embraced him in a warm hug forcing him to sit next to her all day. The more time passed the more she learned about him and loved hanging around with him.

It didn't last nothing lasted.

Married life was different to how Carol had imagined there was no romance, dates or just fun it only consisted of him working and her cooking. A week had passed from the day that Carol tied herself to the man she loved for eternity, and she had never been more tired and decided to take a nap to catch up on her sleep. Her slumber was disturbed by angry shouting from her husband that she had never heard before he was usually so caring. Still groggy she only caught certain words like 'where was his food' 'she was useless' 'she was sleeping around' but didn’t fully pay attention until she felt his rough fist collide with her face knocking her onto the floor. Shocked she looked up to see not regret but pleasure on his face as he snarled out his next words "You are never leaving me like that bitch" referring to his mother and how she left him.

Bad things happened to good people but Carol didn’t know if she believed that she was good anymore as she deserved everything she got. This was her decision and she had to live with it.

"Ed im pregnant" Carol weakly croaked out expecting a hit but when that never arrived she looked up at his face where a huge smile grew on his face shocking Carol. Ed looked like he had conquered the world, cured cancer and killed the devil "you can't leave now" He smiled out unable to hold his malicious chuckle. Noticing the questioning look on her face his poisonous voice continued "No one will want you with a kid and even so i will get to see it meaning i will get to see you" still smiling he embraced her in a tight hug a gesture that a year ago would have comforted her now only repulsed her.

There was no escape everything he did was due to his mom leaving and she couldn't change that but she could protect her daughter at all costs even if that meant staying with the devil himself.

A divorce caused this. A divorce couldn't save her when it was the fault.
