Chapter One: Impossible

Hey guys, I made up some of the information in this chapter so if you notice it's incorrect I did that on purpose.

Hi guys! I was rereading my work just to refresh what I wrote and accidentally deleted some of it, so I had to slightly rewrite it. It's still the same story line as before but just slightly different wordings and stuff. Just letting you know :)

It's another average day for you, sitting quietly on your leather couch and watching on your 76" flatscreen tv. Your personal assistant was bringing you shrimp cocktails on a silver platter while someone was giving you a pedicure. Yup, this was the norm. You were, after all, only the most popular teen sensation at the moment. Almost everyone knew who you were ever since you were discovered for your singing, and then soon after, decided to move on to acting and immediately starred in a new Peter Jackson film. Within three years you had become a billionaire, and all before your seventeenth birthday.
You took a sip of your virgin piña colada while browsing through channels when something caught your eye. The news channel. Normally, the news bored you to death unless you were in it, but this time, you saw something you never ever thought could have existed. The reporter was talking about a newly discovered planet.
"NASA said they have found water on this planet as well as oxygen," she was saying. On the screen was a map of this planet, and you recognized it immediately. It was Middle-earth. But... No.. That's impossible. Middle-earth can't exist, you thought. But there was no mistaking it. Every river, mountain and curve of that map represented Middle-earth. You picked up your iPhone and dialled the number of one of your good friends. "Matt, hey it's me, y/n. Yeah, can we meet up for coffee or something? We need to talk. Okay, tomorrow morning sounds great, thanks. See you there."

"Y/n, great to see you," Matt said as you sat down at the table. He worked for NASA. "What can I do for you today?"
"Matt," you say. "The new planet. It's Middle-earth. Middle-earth is real, Matt, real."
"Am I going to like where you're going with this?"
"Maybe.. I don't know.. Probably not?"
"What is it you want?" Matt raises an eyebrow. He's a close friend of yours and you know he'll do whatever he can to help you get what you want.
"I want to go there, Matt. I want to go to Middle-earth." There was an awkward silence.
"You're crazy." Matt finally said.
"Why?" You ask innocently.
"Y/n, you want to fly there on a spaceship. Do you know how much training you'll need for that? Not to mention the cost. Heck! We don't even know what's up there yet!"
"Matt, if I'm right- and we both know I am- we know exactly what's up there. A wonderful land full of magical creatures! Please, you know how much I love Tolkien's works. You know I'd do anything to see it, meet them."
"Y/n, I don't even know how I'd convince them to let you do that!" Matt argued with you.
You sighed, hoping you wouldn't have to do this. "Would five million cover it?"

After the monetary motivation, Matt did everything in his power to get you a spot on the first spaceship that would travel to what you were assuming was Middle-earth. And was successful. You would have to train plenty before the takeoff in 3 months, but you also wanted to find a way to make your phone and data work there, and as a genius, you were successful.
Finally, the day of the launch came, and you were more excited than ever. You were wearing the standard white space suit and were about to board the ship when Matt came running toward you.
"Y/n! Wait!" He said before lowering his voice. "A couple weeks ago we sent microscopic cameras there and you were right, it is Middle-earth. But while you're there I just want you to be aware that the cameras are still there and will be filming you, kind of like a live movie."
"That's so cool!" You exclaim.
"Also, we discovered that seventeen days there is equivalent to one full day here, so there's a major time difference."
"How will that affect us?" You ask.
"We aren't sure yet, so I guess we'll just have to find out. But I'm sure it won't do anything drastic. Maybe just a little jet-lag when you get back. Well, you have to get going now. Good luck and be safe." He says as he hugs you.
"Thanks," you reply as you pull away and walk into the ship. The others are already waiting for you.
You settle into your seat and make the preparations for takeoff. Once everything is secure you hear a loud voice announcing the countdown.
TEN. NINE. EIGHT. SEVEN. SIX. FIVE. FOUR. THREE. TWO. ONE.
You feel a rush of adrenaline as you take off into outer space, not knowing the adventures that lie ahead of you.

Hey, this is my first fanfiction/imagine, so I would appreciate any feedback on how I'm doing so far. And sorry, I know this didn't include any characters yet, but the next chapter will! I promise! This is just the introduction to the story :)
