You could hear whispers all around you and there was a sharp pain in the back of your head. You groaned slightly as you struggled to open your eyes. As the light filled them you squinted and lifted a hand over them. The picture began to clear and you could see that you were in a bedroom with about five people sitting or standing around you, all women, watching you. None of them said anything so you figured you would have to start the conversation.
You opened your mouth to speak but nothing came out. After clearing your throat you were able to say in barely a whisper, "Where am I?"
"Oh thank goodness you're awake!" said one of the older women. Then she turned to the younger girl beside her saying, "Go and inform King Thranduil that the girl is awake. And don't forget to tell Legolas as well. I'm sure he'll want to know the good news."
"Wait, I'm in Mirkwood?" you said as you sat up in your bed.
"Shh, hush now dear," said the old woman. "Save your questions for when the King gets here."
In a few minutes you found yourself in the presence of Thranduil himself. Soon after you were also joined by Legolas. You sat there in amazement and disbelief. This couldn't be possible! Your most favourite characters existed and were standing right in front of you!
"Your Majesties," you said to them with a tip of your head.
"What is your name," said the King.
"Y/N, your highness."
"And where do you come from?"
"Earth. I came here in a ship with....," your voice trailed off, remembering your crew mates. "Your highness! There were others with me when I got here. On th-the ship! Where are they?"
"Y/N, I'm afraid your friends took a different fate than you," Thranduil said gravely.
"But that means...," you started. You couldn't imagine what the orcs did to them, and you didn't want to.
Thranduil cleared his throat and changed the subject. "Y/N, what is the last thing you remember?"
"I-I was... I was running and, um. I don't know. An Orc tackled me I think. And then all of a sudden it was dead and I was on a horse. But then I think... I think I might've blacked out for some reason," you explained.
"I was the one who was on the horse," Legolas said to you. "But an Orc threw a rock at you and it hit you in the head. You've been out for about a week because of it."
"A week?" You asked in shock. Legolas nodded in response.
"Anything else you remember? Did you hear anything the orcs were saying?" Thranduil questioned.
You remembered something about a prophesy and asked him about it.
"Oh, yes. There is an old prophesy of a girl. One who is not of this world. It suggests that she falls from the sky in a metal beast and she will either save Middle-earth from a great evil, or help destroy it," said the Elven King.
"And- and they think it's me?"
Thranduil and Legolas just sat there looking at you.
"Wait, you don't think it's me too, do you?"
"Well, you did fall from the sky in a metal beast," said Legolas.
"Okay, first of all, I did not 'fall'. I landed. And second, it is not a metal beast. It's a spaceship. Oh, uh, your majesty," you told them.
"We still think it may be you. Which is why we have decided to keep you safe. If the enemy gets their hands on you it could mean the end of Middle-earth as we know it," Thranduil said. "But if you are the girl in the prophesy, you may need to know how to defend yourself."
"What do you mean?" You asked, confused.
"He means," says Legolas. "That you start your training tomorrow."
