3. Attack

It was coming towards the end of July. The days were longer, the temperature warmer. We were doing a perimeter run around the town- as usual. However this was different. Something I had never came across before. I came across a strange scent. It burned through my nose like sniffing acid.

It was excruciating .

I was suspicious, what was this? And why would it be around here? ...so I followed the scent. There was five of them, two of them already reached the border. I knew what they each wanted.

Blood.

It it had to be human. They couldn't survive on any other.

An then it clicked, whose house was the closest?

Mine...

I froze. What was I going to do, my parents couldn't phase, they aren't like us, they were defenceless. How could they hold off two bloodthirsty vampires? I had to come up with something quickly before, something horrific happened. Then it hit me,

" Matty you go guard mum and dad, then me and sophie will follow you". I command.

Without answering he ran back north.

We waited for the other three vampires, all had ravinous craving for blood. You could see it in there eyes. I could feel the packs anticipation, this was our first vampire encounter. After we killed the first one we- me and Sophie- left the rest of the pack deal with other two. Killing them was like the sound of glass breaking. They would burn the bodies to get rid of the trace.

We ran north as fast as we could. To go wipe out the other two leeches. The scent was getting stronger, the burning intensified.

But it was too late.

I found Matty on the floor still in wolf form, lifeless. A bloodsucker leaned over him. Before I knew it I had my jaws around him, Sophie finished him off. I went to go find his mate. She too was leaned over my two dead parent sucking the life out of them. The anger boiled up inside of me and then I exploded, next thing I knew, I was ripping her throat out.

I phased back.

My whole family gone, I need to burn the evidence of the vampires, so I threw a lighter on each on of them, and they deserved it, soulless creatures.

An hour later the whole pack- in their human form-found me curled up on the floor sobbing. What had I done to deserve this? It was a stupid command, I shouldn't of let Matty take on those two leeches alone.

I stayed with Sophie for two days before the funeral. I couldn't live with her forever. I had nowhere to go, except...

Charlie.

I could go live with Charlie, even if I had to sleep on the sofa. It was part of my home, I grew up there. I had to get on the phone to Charlie and quick, he was all I had left, my mother's side of the family rarely talked to me, so...

My hands were shaking, I dialled the number," hello, uncle Charlie," I hesitated as he spoke,"yes, your niece Amelia. I've just gone through a family tragedy and I was wondering if I could live with you... Just until I get my own place...."
