10. Anniversary

By the time I'd woke up, Charlie was already gone. I met Jake and Seth outside half an hour later. We head to the west of the house, the direction of the forest, phasing before anyone would notice. It hadn't been long before we reached the border of the meadow. The other wolves had join us by then-except from Leah. We waited in the middle for the Cullens, they arrived in a blink, all of them seemed to move simultaneously. All grinning except Bella and Edward who looked a bit confused. I trotted over to them with Seth and Jake at my flanks. I phased back just before I reached them, so I could communicate. The thunder started rippling through the clouds. " happy anniversary! " I said cheerfully.

"Thank you, but what are we doing here?" they both asked synchronised.

" c' mon, you don't remember your first date."

"we're playing baseball?" Bella asked excitedly

" yeah, it's a great day for it," I said looking towards the clouds.

We separated into teams, wolves verses vampires. I wasn't in either because to tell you the truth I didn't really no how to play baseball. I sat on the rock closest to the playing field, when Nessie came over. She grabbed my hand and dragged me to the pitch. " you're on our team because Esme's the pitcher." Emmett said with a wide grin. All the wolves spaced out around the pitch, still with anticipation. Jake was in human form because he was the thrower. I stepped up and gripped the bat.

" I won't go too hard on you." Jake sniggered.

" hit me with your best shot!" I added jokingly but with a serious edge. He threw the ball, with one striking hit it flew past the trees. After I ran past the first base I phased to pick up speed. I realised my turn was over when Emmett shouted "home run!" I phased back into human form.

"you can drop it now," Bella whispered.

"Fine." I groaned. My mind let go of the ball.

A few second later Seth trotted out with the ball in his mouth. It reminded me of a dog playing fetch. I laughed under my breath. While Bella was having her go Edward took a step closer to me. "Do you mind babysitting Nessie tonight, with Seth. I'm taking Bella on a surprise walk in the forest tonight." he whispered.

" yeah sure, does Charlie know."

"yep, he said you can either stay at ours or one of us can drive you home."

"ok"

After that, he separated to take his go. After Carlisle's turn we switched round, wolves batting. Jake was the first to hit and I caught it before he got to the second base. Just before seth's turn, four familiar scents were coming towards us. The game stopped and we all huddle into a group. Then I saw them, four horse sized wolves entered the clearing.

It was MY pack.

Was this a dream? Sophie, Daniel,Megan, Luke had all came. I sharp pain winced through my chest; Matty should of been with them. I walked towards them. "Em, what are you doing?" Bella shrieked.

"It's my pack, I can't believe they're here!" I said excitedly.

"Your pack? You were alpha?" Jake said surprised.

" Erm, I still am."

They moved quickly and met us in the middle of the clearing in human form.

" what are you doing here?" I asked joyfully.

"We tracked your scent, but it collided with the leeches." Daniel said looking towards the vampires that stood behind me. Low snarls came behind me.

"We thought you were in trouble," Sophie added with fear in her voice.

"They won't hurt me, they're kinda of my family. Could you leave now, I'm kinda of in the middle of something. I'll check with you in the morning, and that's an order." I said with authority. As soon as I said it,all four turned around and exited the clearing.

The game finished after about an hour, Edward placed Nessie on my back. She grabbed hold of the fur on my shoulders. Me and Seth headed in towards the cottage. I didn't go too fast in case she fell off. We got there in five mintues. It was a silent run because I couldn't hear Seth. It was nine already when we got into the cottage. "Ness, go get your pyjamas on and get into bed. I'll check on you in a minute." I whispered. As soon as I finished the last word she slipped away to her bedroom. Seth and I sat on the sofa.

"Listen I'm sorry about Leah the other day." Seth murmured

"It's okay," I muttered, looking down

"No it's not, she shouldn't of acted like that " but before I could say anything back, the palm of his hand was already on my cheek, lifting my face up to look into his eyes, his face was getting closer. Before I knew it his lips were against mine, like an inferno as both of our 108.9 degrees lips touched. But we were interrupted when Ness shouted "Em could you read me a story." I removed my lips and turned around to the direction of Ness's

"ok." I shouted back. For a moment we both looked into each others eyes. Then I got up and walked into Nessie's room. I picked up a Charles Dickinson's book- Oliver Twist. After the first couple of chapters she fell asleep. I placed the book down and switched of her lamp. When I walked back to the sitting room Seth was lying on the sofa, nearly asleep. I lay next to him on the sofa, my head rested on his chest. It had been a long day and I was tired too. I knew he wasn't asleep when his arm wrapped around me. We lay there for a moment and let the silence ring through the house, finally we fell asleep.

I woke up to the same silence. My head still rested on Seth's chest, I looked up towards his face. He was gazing into my eyes "morning beautiful," he smiled. I smiled back at him. For once this year I actually felt happy. I forgot about the pain that I felt a month ago. I sat up, looking around the cottage. Where was Bella and Edward ? Even Ness?

Then I found I piece of paper entitled to me and Seth on the small table in the middle of the room. It read:

' Thanks for babysitting Ness. Gone out hunting with her. Esme will make you breakfast if you want.'

Love Bella and Edward.

Seth and I both got up and walked towards the cullen's house, hand in hand.

We entered the house and a scent of bacon and eggs came from the kitchen. Jake was stood leaning on the counter, chewing on a piece of bacon.

He glared at us holding hand "And they called it puppy love!" he sang while laughing.

"Jake, shut up." I said while eating my eggs and bacon. "when's the first litter of puppies coming." Emmett boomed coming into the room. Jake joined in with his thunderous laugh. Why do people have to be so obnoxious? Had they never seen two people in love?
