I approach the house with growing anxiety. What was my alibi? I grabbed the handle, my hand was shaking. I opened it carefully, trying not to break the handle. I shuffled into the house and peered into the living room. Matty was spread over the sofa watching TV,while Mike was reading the paper. Louise was still hovering in the Kitchen. As soon as I entered, they all seemed to stare for a minute then carry on with what they were doing, but Louise stared wearily.

After Matty went up to bed- well he was only ten- my dad whispered something, but I couldn't hear him.

" I know, about-"he repeated.

"About what?" I asked, eventhough I knew what he was on about.

"That you phased today,"

"What, how did you-"

"your mother told me about her father years ago, and I recognise the same behaviour."

"who else knows?" I murmured. He paused for a brief second and sighed " your mother's side of the family-obviously- but my side doesn't."

" so, Charlie, Bella-" I whispered.

"No, they don't know." He answered. How could he keep such a big secret from his own family?

As the weeks followed I stayed home while my mum home schooled me. I taught myself how to phase, control my anger and just how to be a werewolf. I researched on the legends of this kind of magic and I uncovered many things. One of them was that once I had a pack, we could communicate through telepathy whilst we're in wolf form.

Unfortunately, I had had to keep the secret away from my friends. Even from my best friend Sophie, who would constantly ring asking for me, each time I would come up with a different excuse. I can't keep lying to her.

But I didn't have to keep lying to her for long because that week she phased herself. By the end of the month I had a pack of six including myself, all came from different places around the uk. We must of been the only pack that exists in the whole of the UK. The pack was made up of me as alpha- what I say goes- Sophie in second in command, then Daniel was the next to phase, Luke, Megan and lastly Matty. Matty was the youngest at only ten.

It was a strong pack, but how long could it last?

Being a wolf was different, unique in someways. We could listen to each others thoughts, feel each others pain, anger and happiness.

We were as one.

The worst, was experiencing another member of the pack imprinting, it was like they didn't belong to themselves anymore.

It was sickening

Daniel had already imprinted on Sophie, and Luke on Megan. I was the odd one out, a lone alpha- except for Matty who wasn't old enough to imprint on any of the girls in town. How pathetic.

After a couple of months I discovered I was special to all the other wolves in the pack.

I could block out thoughts that I didn't want them to hear, whilst in wolf form. Also,- this was pretty cool- I could move things with the mind. Telekinesis. I could do it wether or not I had phased. This just upped my gain as a wolf, but as a pack it was our job to protect the town, from one thing only.

VAMPIRES.

I have never encountered one but I have heard other tribes legends;bloodsucking demons, the cold ones. But I knew that it was my job to protect the town, my family and the pack whatever it came to, no matter how risky or life threatening.
