The television is blurting loudly, but I'm not paying attention. The news only makes me sadder every single day, crime rates going up more and more. People are even thinking that a huge gang moved into our city, which I know isn't true.

I don't know much about crimes, and the investigation of them, but I do know that these criminals don't work together. I'm even sure these crime rates are only going up because our economy is getting worse.

Anyway, enough of those awful thoughts. My thoughts have completely distracted me from the mail I was reading. My mother mailed me today, she lives on the other side of the city and my father doesn't want her alone on the streets now, so we're forced to mail each other to stay in contact.

Her mail is nothing special, she just tells me everyone back at home is doing good and that she hopes I'm okay too. I am, I've always been just fine. My mother just has been very protective of me since I was little.

I mean, being there when a laboratory explodes is a bad thing.

Being inside the laboratory when it explodes is even worse... I was on a school trip at the age of eleven and we visited a laboratory, my entire class had heard the alarm, but I was too busy staring at the countless machines to even hear the blarring noise.

I survived, luckily,  Although my teacher was very worried that the chemicals had entered my body, and changed parts of my DNA, and they had. I only discovered a few days later that I could do stuff I had never been able to do before.

I got more flexible, to the extent where I can literally fold myself, and if I really concentrated on it, I could even turn invisible and float. For short periods of time, of course, but I could do it! Still can. As an eleven year old girl, that sounds amazing, but when you grow older it'll only be a burden. I was an outcast, at least that's how I felt.

I carried an immense secret with me. I never told anyone, not even my parents, they would only be worried sick about me. Besides, people would try to 'cure' me or experiment on me. I didn't want that.

Now, I've grown older, and decided to shove those things aside. I acted as a normal girl every minute of every day. I am just a human owning a small house who pays taxes and stuff, I am not a freak who turns invisible and randomly floats. That wasn't me, and I had promised myself I would never be that person ever again.

"A higher power might be involved in this, a leader or something. Someone who sends all these crimina-" I shut off the television, that thing was only distracting me. Not that my thoughts are being more helpful...

Is it selfish from me to not help the city out while I can?

"That's not what I meant, you pervert!" Felix shouts at me. We're watching tv, and I just discovered that almost every sentence can be made dirty when you add 'That's what she said.'

I enjoying this very much, Felix isn't really.

His arms are crossed and there is a small pout on his face. I roll my eyes at the guy, he's such a childish guy. He's still my best friend in the entire world, but he can be very annoying and loud at times. I remember telling my friends that a Swede was going to live in my house.

They didn't believe me at first, but when he actually got here they became friends with him instantly. He has this very good thing with people. If he'd try, I'm sure he could find fame somewhere.

"Yo, Felix, I'll stop." I tell him, and he let's out a sigh of relief.

"Great, I was afraid you'd go on all night." He tells me, before his eyes widen.

"That's what she said!"

Four hours later and he has still locked himself in his room. So, I decided to watch some horror movies all alone. Now let me tell you, bad idea! Although I'm happy that Felix isn't with me, he'd just be screaming so high that only dogs could hear him.

Dogs and I that is.

I'm not really paying attention to the movie at all, but when the Grudge suddenly gets into the screen, I jump. My hand moves itself and before I know it I have set the table on fire. Controlling elements can be fun, but fuck, it can also be annoying as hell.

Before I know it, the sprinklers have gone off. With my hand, I move them away from myself before moving closer to the burning table. Of course, when I'm about to use the water from the sprinklers to make a huge wave and end this fire, Felix runs down.

I make the water hit me quickly, and turn towards him.

"Oh my fucking God!" He shouts. "What... How did you do that..." He mumbles after his shout. I rub my neck shyly before answering. "Hit a candle while watching a horror movie."

He shakes his head before grabbing my arm and dragging me outside. We stand in front of our house, watching the table burn a little less through the window. The fire department arrived five minutes later, and before we knew it our house was clear again.

"No candles while watching horror ever again." I state when Felix and I enter our soaked house. He let's out a small chuckle, but I know he isn't amused at all. "I'll clean out the water when you'refast asleep, okay?"

"Exactly what I wanted to hear." He says with a wink. "Now, if you don't mind, my dry bed is calling my name." He turns around and gives me a backwards wave, before dissapearing on the stairs. At least I won't have to clean up upstairs, because we don't have sprinklers there, besides this water will be gone in no time, I just need a place to drop it.
