Braelin
I exited the airport with a tight grip on my brother's arm and a tighter one on my luggage. We definitely weren't in Kansas anymore. I looked around for a familiar brown skin woman and thankfully it didn't take long. My mother stood, leaning against an iron fence, waving uncontrollably trying to get our attention and she had gotten it, as well as most of the surrounding strangers. As if he didn't see the strange glances we were getting, my brother took off running in my mother's direction while I slowly followed behind him.
"My baby!" She yelled dramatically and I resisted the urge to roll my eyes. She embraced him with her arms before placing a kiss causing him to pull back.
"Ma! I'm a man now, I can't have my mom kissing me in public" he groaned as he tried to wipe her kiss off as if it was infecting his eight-year-old gangsta status.
"Well excuse me" my mom teased before we finally locked gazes and I had to admit, my mother was gorgeous and looked younger than her actual age. I hadn't seen my mom in about three years and yet still my mother and I were still split images of each other. With beautiful cocoa brown smooth skin, long silky black hair, a 'do-a-double-take' body, and both blessed with the academic genes, we were dangerously good looking. The only thing I had gotten from my dad was his charming persona and sparkling hazel eyes.
"God Braelin you've gotten so big"
"I would hope so considering the last time I saw you was my 15th birthday" I mumbled loud enough for her to hear and she sent me a disapproving stare before going back to mother dearest.
"Anyways, your going to love your new home"
"And how are we getting there, taxi? I don't see a car around here"
"I guess that's where I come in," an unfamiliar voice said proudly and looking up I came face to face with a complete stranger. The man stood a good six feet three inches with an annoying grin and tousled dirty blonde hair. He was a light tan with sparkling white teeth.
"Braelin. Sam. I want you to meet Lorenzo, my fiancée"
"Fiancée!" I yelled earning strange glances for passing pedestrians and a slight nudge from my brother as if to tell me to calm down.
"I've heard so much about you two," he said grinning and I wanted to roll my eyes.
"I'm so sure. Can we go now?"
"Uh yeah, sure. Let me grab your bags" he volunteered before taking our stuff and leading us towards a white 2016 Range Rover with chrome rims. It was my dream car and had been since it came out.
"So I'm assuming you like?" Lorenzo asked with a smile as he loaded our stuff into the back and I just shrugged.
"It's okay if your into these types of cars"
"Well let's go, the ride home is pretty long"

"Here we are" I looked up from my cell phone and my eyes widened at the huge mansion in front of me.
"This is where you live," my brother asked taking the words right out of my mouth in which Lorenzo just chuckled.
"This is where we live, little man"
"Nice" Sam said before coming out of the car. "I could get used to the rich lifestyle"
"What do you think Braelin?" Lorenzo asked but I was still in shock. We actually lived here.
"Come on let me show you guys inside" we followed swiftly behind him ad be brought us inside. The house was even bigger on the outside and don't get me started on the space. The place was built four stories high with ten bedrooms and twelve and a half bathrooms. It was huge.
"Braelin, we'll show you your room first," my mom said as she brought us to the fourth floor which was kind of like a private suite. It had a mini kitchen, a bedroom, bathroom, walk-in closet and a spare room.
"This is mine?"
"Yeah, it is. Why don't you check out the spare room?" Lorenzo offered and I slightly raised my eyebrow towards him before making my way to the spare room. I pulled open the white wooden door and looked around the room with a raised eyebrow trying to figure out what I was looking at. The room was completely dark with shut curtains and I could hardly see anything.
"This is it?" I mumbled and Lorenzo who I was almost sure was born with a grin on his face hit the light switch and one by one light flickered on and the room was finally showed. The walls weren't painted as if the room had never been in use but around the room were easels with blank canvases and buckets of paint everywhere, all different colors.
"Lorenzo thought since you love to paint maybe you would appreciate decorating your own spare room." I nodded not being able to let a thank you slip out of my mouth as I was so obstructed.
"You should open the curtains, over looked," Lorenzo said with a gleam in his eyes and nervously I opened the curtain and couldn't believe the view overlooked the mountains with a great view of the sunset and immediately I knew that would be the first thing I painted.
"Thank you" I whispered lowly enough for them to hear and my mother released a breath of relief as if she thought I was going to hate it.
"No problem. What do you want for dinner? Lorenzo's cooking"
"I'm good actually. I'm just going to get some sleep, it's been a long day" my mother opted to protest but when Lorenzo gave her a kiss on the cheek she sighed and wished me a good night's sleep before they left. Taking one last glance at the amazing view, I headed back into my bedroom and took a deep breath.
Day one.
