Braelin's POV

I was officially bored. I mean, completely and utterly bored. It was Sunday and I had absolutely nothing to do and nowhere to go. Slipping off my bed, I allowed my feet to bring me to the door that held all the blank canvas's and before I could stop myself, I entered. The room was just how I saw it the first time. Buckets of unused paint were scattered around the room and I couldn't help but smile. My home away from home.

Tying my hair up into a high ponytail, I grabbed the brand new brush set before sitting down at one of the canvases and getting to work already having an inspiration. The view from the first day I had gotten to this place came to mind and I closed my eyes for a second to picture it before letting the brush flow on the canvas, doing what I loved to do. Paint. I watched as the dark blue sky I was painting blend perfectly with the golden amber sun and gray clouds just like it had on my first day. I was painting for at least an hour when someone knocked on the door.

"Braelin?" A voice called from outside the door knocking me out of my zone and I recognized it as Lorenzo. What the hell did he want?

"Yeah?"

"Can you come out here for a second?" He asked sounding excited and I sighed before dropping my paintbrush and heading to the door.

"Can you make it quick because I'm in the middle of something-- Oh my god Layla!" I yelled before pulling my best friend into my arms while Lorenzo stood there grinning. "But how, when, why?"

"I know you miss your old school and your friends so I thought maybe having your friend up here would help a little bit."

"Thanks, Lorenzo," I replied genuinely and he grinned brighter before leaving the room to give Layla and I some time to catch up. We immediately burst into conversation talking about every and anything from who was dating who to even what we ate for breakfast but it was clear to see we had missed each other.

"So this is how we livin now huh? Damn this house is big," she said looking around my room-- well mini apartment and I nodded agreeing.

"Girl you have no idea! How's everything back home?" I asked feeling myself begin to get homesick.

"Oh you know, same old same old but I do have to tell you something," she said playing with her hands nervously and I moved closer to get more interested.

"What?"

"Now I don't know how you're going to react but basically I found something out."

"Girl will you stop beating around the bush, what is it?"

"Darnell is seeing someone else," she announced before waiting for my reaction but even I wasn't sure how I felt. I was supposed to be mad, right? Then why did I feel fine-- hell relieved. Darnell and I had been dating happily-- or so I thought, for the last three years but apparently even my subconscious knew that it was going nowhere.

"Okay."

"Okay? Girl are you okay?" She asked placing her hand on my forehead and I couldn't help but laugh.

"I'm good, seriously. Look, we both know Darnell has been a lot more distant since I moved away so it's not surprising. I just wished he would've been man enough to break up with me in person."

"That's because dogs don't know how to act like men," she said and I couldn't help but laugh before my phone went off. Unlocking it I couldn't help but smile at the text message.

What are you doing later?-Cameron AKA Blue Eyez

"Who's that?" Layla asked peeking over the screen before she shot me a knowing look. "So whose Cameron, how fine is he and is he next boyfriend material?"

"Cameron is my friend, extremely fine and he has a girlfriend."

"So what? Is she prettier than you?"

"No, but she is whiter than me."

"What he don't date black girls?" She asked as I shrugged my shoulders.

"Not sure and I'm not going to find out."

"You're boring. At least tell him you're not doing anything later."

"But were hanging out," she gave me the 'girl please' expression and I rolled my eyes before texting back.

Nothing yet, why?

He responded almost instantly.

Good. Tonight @9pm Dylan is having a party and your coming- Blue Eyez

Are you asking me or telling me?

Telling ;) - Blue Eyez

"Awe you two are so cute!" Layla said teasing and I rolled my eyes at her antics.

"We're just friends."

"Mhm, we'll see," she said walking out of the room and coming back in with a small duffel bag. I watched as she rummaged through it curious as to what she was doing.

"What are you doing?"

"Shh!" She yelled before throwing her bag onto the bed and heading into my closet, pulling out a few of the outfits my mom had picked out for me when we had first moved out here and throwing them onto the bed matching them with high heels that could kill.

"Alright, you need to go back into your art studio until I call you in a few hours."

"Not until you tell me why," I said crossing my arms letting her know I wasn't going to let this slide. "This party isn't that big of a deal, probably just a few friends."

"Doesn't matter. Cameron's girlfriend is going to be there right?"

"Yeah, so?"

"I am getting you ready to seduce Cameron."
