Braelin
"So how was dinner with the parents? Did it go well?" Selena asked as she clocked in for work.
"Yeah, it did surprisingly. Sam really likes him and my mom and Lorenzo approve so I guess everything is perfect," I muttered with a sigh and Selena raised her eyebrow at me curiously.
"So what didn't go well?"
"Apparently your dad doesn't like me. Cameron said it wasn't a big deal and not to worry about it but I was kind of hoping he would but he's already made it clear that he has no intention of liking me as long as I'm not Stacey."
"My dad's like that. He doesn't even like Matthew because his dad isn't a big shot lawyer or doctor."
"Really?"
"Yup but Cameron and I got most of our genes from our mom, that is who I think you should talk to, she'll love you."
"Really?" I asked unable to hide my excitement.
"Yup. Our mom is the coolest," she said before I swiped my card to clock in. "Anyways we should get to work after all today is your first day working alone." Grabbing my apron I slipped it on before pulling my hair up into a high ponytail and grabbing my notepad. I was serving the bar and table five through eight today. Heading to table five where a group of girls was sitting, I put on my biggest smile before stopping at their table.
"Hi, I'm Braelin and I will be your waitress for the evening, can I get you started with some appetizers or drinks?" They ordered a few things off the menu before I gave the order to the chef and continued taking orders. Everything was going fairly well until someone summoned me over. Chad.
"What do you want?" I asked stopping in front of him and he faked hurt.
"What are you not happy to see me? That hurts Braelin and shouldn't you be a little more friendly to a paying customer?"
"Hi, I'm Braelin and I will be your waitress for the evening, can I get you started with some appetizers or drinks?" I repeated rolling my eyes and he pretended to look through the menu before speaking.
"I'll take a sprite and bring it back quick, I have a proposition for you." Confused I took his order back to the bar where Selena was working and when she noticed who I was talking to, she rolled her eyes.
"What does he want?"
"Apparently he has a proposition for me."
"About what?"
"Who knows."
"Here's his drink," she said handing it to me and I nodded thanking her before heading back to his table and placing it down.
"That was quick who knew you black people were good for something other than eating fried chicken."
"Keep messing with me and I will throw this drink in your face," I threatened and he put his hands up in defense.
"Sorry. Look I'm only here because I want what's best for Cameron."
"So do I."
"Great, then take this cheque and fill in as many zeros that will make you leave Cameron alone," he said handing the cheque to me and when I looked at it, it wasn't the blank part that had set me off it was who signed it. David Wellington aka Cameron's father.
"What?"
"Look don't worry I'll tell Cameron it just didn't work out and you wanted something else, something better--" I cut him off by throwing his drink in his face before slamming the glass down and throwing the cheque back in his face.
"What the hell is wrong with you?"
"I guess it's just the angry black woman in me, huh?" I asked before storming back to the bar where Selena was standing, clapping her hands together.
"Encore! Encore!"
"Do you know where Cameron is?" I asked still feeling livid and Selena pointed to the break room. Thanking her, I rushed in there finding Cameron at his locker going through his things. "Hey."
"Hey, everything okay?" He asked noticing how angry I looked.
"No, it's not."
"What happened?"
"Your dad happened."
"What are you talking about?"
"Apparently Chad, Stacey and your dad all believe I'm not good enough for you, enough so to try and pay me off," I said with a laugh full of disbelief.
"Seriously?" He asked clenching his fist and I nodded.
"You know, I don't even know if it's worth it."
"Stop," he said before grabbing my hands and entwining them together. "Don't let them Braelin. I like you and I don't care what anyone else thinks or says, I'm not dating them, I'm dating you."
"But--"
"I have an idea, let's go on our first date right now."
"What?" I asked now being the one confused.
"Come on," he said pulling me towards the exit.
"But I just started my shift."
"I'll explain it to my uncle later, today is about you and me," he said and I shook my head before finally complying.
"Fine but this better be good blue eyes."

"I can't believe you really got hurt skating after you boasted to me about how good you were," I said letting Cameron lean on me as he hobbled into his house. It was the first time I was actually inside his house and it was gorgeous but unfortunately, I didn't have time to admire his home as it was pretty late and if I didn't head home soon my mom was going to kill me.
"It's your fault."
"How is it my fault?" I asked placing him lightly on the couch.
"I was distracted by your beauty," he said with a grin and I rolled my eyes.
"Relax casanova, is there anything I can get you, though?"
"Can you grab me a bottle of water? There should be one in the fridge. The kitchen is down the hall to your right."
"Okay," I replied before following his direction and finding the kitchen. It was a gorgeous black and white with an enormous amount of space and I couldn't help but fall in love with it. Shaking my head I opened the fridge and grabbed one of the bottled waters from the door before slamming it shut and jumping back. Behind the door was a man dressed in silk black Pajama pants holding a baseball bat looking angry as hell.
"Who the hell are you!" He yelled angrily and I put my hands up in defense.
"Look I'm here with--"
"What the hell is going on in here?" A lady asked entering the kitchen with a robe wrapped around her body. "Oh hello, who are you?"
"She's trying to rob us, Kate," he said giving her a quick glance before looking back at me and I fought the urge to reply with a smart ass comment but seriously? In a house that was probably filled with many screen TV's and jewelry worth thousands, I was going to the refrigerator to steal water.
"Oh come on, stealing?" The woman named Kate said before rolling her eyes. "You're being fairly dramatic don't you think?"
"Well, that's all her people are good for. Stealing and robbing people of their hard-earned money."
"What the hell is going on in here dad?" Cameron asked entering and that's when everything finally sunk in. This was his father! What a first impression...
