Braelin's POV

I was exhausted. Whoever said planning a birthday party on a Sunday was easy didn't know the half of having to clean it up after. The only benefit was that almost everyone except Stacey stayed back to help clean up but it was still pretty trashed. Slamming my locker shut, I jumped back when I noticed Cameron was leaning against the locker beside it with a grin on his face.

"Good morning."

"What's so good about it?" I asked rolling my eyes. Clearly, I was not a Monday morning person.

"Tired?" He asked and I nodded, covering my mouth to block my yawn. "Maybe this will help," he offered, pulling a cup of coffee from behind his back and I could have kissed him right then and there but instead I stole the cup from his hand and took a sip, moaning at how good it tasted. White people sure knew how to make coffee.

"You are amazing."

"Just doing my job as your boyfriend," he said reminding me that I had, in fact, agreed to be his girlfriend. It had taken much thought and a mini conference with Selena and Layla who said and I quote, 'Go get your swirl on girl!' But even after that I still wasn't completely sold on the idea until we had talked.

"I have a question."

"Shoot."

"If you broke up with Stacey before my party, why was she all over you?"

"Believe it or not Stacey is the jealous type," he started until I cut him off.

"Really? I had no idea I just thought she gave me death glares and made racist comments for fun," I replied sarcastically causing him to chuckle.

"Well she is and she didn't want you to rub it in her face so she asked for me to pretend that we were together and I agreed, well until we started playing Truth or dare and I couldn't keep lying to you. I like you Braelin, a lot, but I'm not a cheater."

And after that confession, how could I have said no?

"Braelin!" Cameron's voice broke into my daydream snapping me out of it.

"Huh?"

"You blanked out."

"Sorry I was thinking about something," I told him before giving him a hug being careful not to spill any of my coffee. "Keep this up and I may just keep you around," I joked and he raised an eyebrow in my direction.

"Wait, what?" The bell rung before I could reply and before he could ask any more questions, I was halfway down the hallway, chucking up the deuces.

"Later!" I slipped into my second class of the day before Cameron could grab me and sighed in relief before taking a seat at my desk. Students began piling in as I scrolled through my social media paying them no mind until someone stood in front of me, tapping their heels annoyingly.

"Can I help you?" I asked looking up at Stacey and she rolled her eyes as if I was the one bothering her.

"Yeah, get out of my seat."

"What?"

"Are you going deaf now? Get out of my seat."

"First, I don't see your name on it and second, I've been sitting here since the first day of school."

"Look, I get it your still new and all so I'll break it down for you in small words so you'll understand. I change seats every three months so I can have the opportunity to move around the classroom and you are in my spot."

"Sounds like a personal problem."

"Listen here you bl—"

"Student's please take your seats and do it quickly we do not have all day," the teacher said clapping her hands twice as she entered and everyone rushed to their seats except Stacey who was still standing in front of me.

"Is there a problem Ms. Callaway?"

"Braelin is in my seat," she said smirking and I rolled my eyes.

"Ms. Callaway it is 8 am in the morning, please take a seat."

"But... But."

"Ms. Callaway," she repeated in a warning tone before Stacey stormed to her seat and plopped down on it. "Good. Now class, put away your devices, it's time for a pop quiz," the teacher announced clapping her hands together loudly and the whole classed groaned in annoyance. It was 10 am on a Monday morning and we were having a pop quiz. Wonderful. Taking out my pencil and an eraser, I waited for the teacher to hand out the quiz before I got started. The test was pretty hard and it took me almost the full period to finish it but I was still the first one done.

"Wow, done already?" She asked and I simply nodded. "This is the fastest a student has ever finished on of my tests, it must be a black thing," she said with a laugh and I fought the urge to shake my head. Was that supposed to be a compliment? The bell rang suddenly and I mentally thanked god before grabbing my bag and rushing out of the room and straight for the lunchroom. It was crowded as per usual but once I spotted Selena at our table, I immediately took my seat beside her.

"Why didn't you come to psychology class?"

"I woke up late, why what happened?" She asked.

"Nothing I couldn't handle."

"Good afternoon ladies," Dylan said cheerfully as he took a seat at the table.

"What's got you so cheerful?" Selena asked eating one of her fries.

"Layla," he said sounding like a love sick puppy and Selena and I immediately started awe'ing. "Shut up!"

"If you want I can make sure she comes to your game today," I told him and he perked up even more than before— if that was even possible.

"She's still here? I thought she left yesterday."

"She missed her flight so she's here another d—" the rest of my sentence went unheard as Dylan rushed out of the cafeteria. He was so whipped.

"Where did Dylan go?" Cameron asked taking a seat beside me and I shrugged before taking on of his fries.

"Probably to go beg Layla to come to his football game."

"Speaking of football games; you should come to mine tonight."

"You want me there?" I asked a bit shocked.

"Of course, who else is going to cheer me on every time I make a touchdown."

"You mean if you make a touchdown," I said causing him to laugh.

"Which is exactly why you need to come and be my luck charm so we can win."

"I'll check my schedule," I said before he placed a kiss on my cheek and began eating his lunch with his arm still wrapped around my waist and I couldn't help but think about Stacey being at the game in her short skirt as she cheered for the team. Don't get jealous Braelin, he's yours. He was mine. That sure did have a nice ring to it...
