Luke's POV
I was walking down the street, dodging the people walking towards me as I made my way home from school.

I glanced across the road past the cars racing by me, and saw the book shop that Ashton worked in. I felt a desperate need to see him again and before I knew it, my feet had already walked me across the road so I was standing in front of the shop door.

I pushed the door open, the bell dinging as I did so. I spotted Ashton behind the till engrossed in a book, his glasses sliding down the bridge of his nose. His eyes darted up to sound of me entering.
His whole face lit up as he saw me and his smile kept growing till his dimples showed. I felt a blush begin to creep on to my cheeks.

"Hey Luke, what can I do for you?" Ashton asked me, his excitement showing through every word.

That's when it hit me. I realised I didnt actually have a reason for being in here and I started stammering like an idiot.

Ashton just giggled and I melted at how cute his laugh was. I managed to pull myself together to ask him "what were you reading?"

He looked confused for a second before he realised what I was talking about and picked up his book from the counter.

"Paper towns" Ashton said as he held up the book to show me the cover. I noticed the author was 'John Green', a name which seemed familiar to me, yet I couldn't place where I knew from.

"Have you read it?" He asked and I shook my head.

"Do you have another copy?" I asked him, hoping it was a good book.

He said "yes" and disappeared into the back of the shop. Moments later he returned with a book the same as the one he'd shown me.

He handed it to me, our hands brushing off each other, creating some sort of electricity that tingled up my arm and through my body.

I payed for the book and turned to leave, giving him a small wave. My hand had just touched the handle of the door when I heard Ashton call out to me.

"Luke! Wait." He called and I turned around to face him. He looked nervous which worried me since he came across as a really confident person.

"C..can I maybe get your number so we can hang out sometime?" He asked me, his face flushing red as he tugged at the sleeves on his hoodie.

I was shocked. I didn't understand why someone like Ashton would want to hang out with a freak like me? Maybe he felt the electricity too? Maybe he thought I was popular?

I must have been taking too long to reply as Ashton spoke up again.

"Its okay if you don't want to, I..I understand" he said sounding disappointed and hurt.

"NO" I said a little to loudly.

"I mean... yeah, I would like to hang out sometime" I told him reaching for my phone.

His usual bright smile crept back onto his face as we swapped phones and typed in our numbers. I couldn't stop myself from grinning either as he handed me back my phone and smiled widely to me as I left the shop and headed home.

I was lying on my bed when I felt a buzz in pocket. I dug my hand in my pocket and pulled out the phone, clicking the home button and causing the home screen to light up.

Ashton:One new message

I swiped my finger across the screen unlocking it and I clicked on the text message.

Ashton: Hey it's Ash. I was wondering if you wanted to hang out tomorrow night? :)

I read the message and sent a reply.

Luke: yeh sure what time do you wanna meet? :-)

I received a reply from Ashton almost instantly.

Ashton: meet me on the bridge at the park at 8 ;)

Luke: okay :-)

A smile tugged a the corner of my lips as Ashton took over my thoughts and distracted me from my problems.
