~~Chapter 21~~
The next day, I was let out of the hospital around eleven. Unfortunately, they didn't excuse me for the day, so I had to go to class. When I arrived at the French room, I knocked on the door three times.
When Madame opened the door and saw me standing there, she pulled me into a hug. "Bonjour Destiny! How are you feeling?" She asked.
"A little better, thank you." I told her.
"I'll catch you up in a minute. You can go sit by Zachary. He's been worried about you. I'll get everyone else started, and then I'll be right over." she said.
"Okay." I put my book on the desk next to Zach and set my bag down.
He smiled warmly at me. "How's your head?" he asked me. I frowned.
"It still kind of hurts" I told him.
"Did you take anything?"
"They gave me some advil on the way out."
He gave me a sympathetic look and scooted closer to me. He lifted his right arm up and reached around my back to rest it on my right shoulder. He squeezed me a little, then relaxed. Soon Madame was coming to our desks.
"Oh Zach, it's so sweet of you to take care of Destiny." she told him. He smiled down at my blushing face. "You should have seen him, Destiny. On Friday night After your accident, Zach was the first one there. He began to treat your head and give you first aid. Then when the nurses came, he wouldn't even leave your side. Finally they had to get people to take him out and back to his room. It was the sweetest thing ever!" she told us. I blushed even harder, if that was possible. "Anyway, here are the worksheets that we did yesterday. Take as long as you need on them. I don't want you to get stressed out or anything." she told me. I smiled.
"Merci, Madame." I said. I looked at the papers and began to work on them right away. If I finished during class, I wouldn't have to do anything tonight. As I worked, I realized that Zach still had his hand on my shoulder. I looked over at him to see him staring at the far wall instead of working on his own worksheet. "Why aren't you working on your worksheet, Zach?" I asked him.
He looked at me and smirked. "Because I'm a righty, not a lefty." he said. I was confused at first, but then I realized he was talking about his hand being on my shoulder. My eyes widened. Quickly I reached to my shoulder and pulled his hand off, blushing. "Relax, I don't want to actually do my work. This way I have an excuse." he said, putting his hand back where it was on my shoulder.
"Umm, okay." I said to him.
After class, Zach walked me down to the lunch room. He made me sit down while he got both of our meals.
"Thank you" I said to him as he put a tray down in front of me.
"No problem" We sat in silence while we ate. I mostly just picked at my food. My head was beginning to hurt a lot. "Are you okay?" Zach asked.
I nodded. "Yeah but my head hurts." I told him. He reached into his pocket and pulled out a small bottle of Advil.
"Here, take some more of these." he said, handing me the bottle. I opened it and took two. After lunch, Zach and I went to history. The teacher was showing us another video today, and I was glad because it meant that the lights wouldn't be bothering me. Soon after the video started though, my head began to throb. The first five minutes was bearable, but after that my eyes began to water. I turned to Zach and tugged on his shirt. He looked over to me and realized that I was crying. He instantly stood up and went to the front desk. He said something to the teacher, and he nodded, looking my way. Zach came back and pulled me out of my seat. He walked me out of the classroom and upstairs by the dorms.
"Give me your key" he told me, and I pulled it out of my pocket, placing it in his hand. He opened my door and sat me on the bed. He gently pushed me down so I would lay on the bed, and then he ran to the bathroom. Less than a minute later he came back with two damp washcloths. He folded them both up and placed one on my forehead and the other on the side of my neck. They were both freezing cold. I shivered. "Sorry, but you have a fever." Zach told me. Then he walked over to his school bag and pulled out a bottle. He opened it and poured liquid into the cap. "Alright, drink this." he told me. I took the cap and drank the liquid, grimacing at the taste.
"What is that?" I asked, handing the cap back to him. He took it and put it back on the bottle.
"It's pain medication. It will also put you out in a few minutes." he told me.
I nodded slowly. "Where did you get that?" I asked him.
"A nurse gave it to me and told me to give it to you if you were in too much pain." he said. I nodded again, feeling drowsy already. Slowly I pulled the sheets down and crawled underneath them. At least now I would be ready to fall asleep. A few minutes after, I began to drift off to sleep.
