Ella Rook was a werewolf. A female werewolf. Her father was one, too. You can tell because he killed his wife, Elanor Rook, on a full moon. Jose Rook named his daughter, Ella, after her mother.
Ella Rook went to middle school like a normal thirteen year old. She acted normal, even if it was hard sometimes, like a normal thirteen year old. She even had friends like a normal thirteen year old, well, she had one friend. Her dad.
One day when she was walking home from school, she saw a boy outside, reading by a tree. Ella loved reading, too. She was the only one she knew that would rather read than go see a movie in 3D.
She walked over to this boy and sat down next to him. "Hello," she said in a shy voice. The boy looked up. Ella nearly fainted. He was very cute!
"Hi," he said, seeming shy, too. He shut the book. Ella saw that he was reading Twilight.
Ella could tell she was blushing a bit. "Do you like vampires?" she asked, knowing what he was reading.
The boy smiled. "I've read every book in the school library. I'm just re-reading this one."
Ella smiled. "I've read every book in the library twice, at least." "But I don't mean to brag."
The boy laughed. "My name is Cory." He stood up from the big oak tree. "Cory Month."
Ella was thinking if she should tell Cory her name. No, Ella! begged her conscience. It's too dangerous!
"Hey," whispered Cory. "Is anything wrong? You look worried."
Ella decided that Cory wasn't dangerous. "Ella!" she shouted. Cory looked puzzled. "My name," she said in a calming voice. "Is Ella Rook."
