chapter 18 - whoah

I couldn't find the strength to push her away. Maybe it was because I didn't want to hurt her feelings or because I'm just plain weak. When she finally pulled away, I couldn't even find the strength to gasp for air when I really needed it. I stared at her like a dear caught in headlights. I wanted to utter out something, but my lips stayed slightly apart and my voice seemed to be stuck inside my throat. Why isn't she saying anything? I opened my mouth to break the silence seeing as it doesn't look like she's gonna anytime soon.

"What the hell is going on here?" wait I didn't say that. Both Normani and I's focus were now on Drake, who was fuming from the entrance of the kitchen. "What the hell did I just see?"

"Calm down, Drake." Normani smoothly says. Now she decides to talk? "We were just kissing. Wait, you're not homophobic right? 'Cause that would be awful." I gawked at her. How could she be so calm about this? She just took my tongue virginity!

"What do you mean calm down!?" Drake screamed over the loud music.

"Why does it matter to you? She's just your step sister." Normani just couldn't keep her mouth shut. But at this point in time, I didn't really know what drake and I were in the relationship compartment. On one hand, we seem to not mind being siblings, but on the other hand, Drake's been flirting a lot. I'm just confused, hence why I'm just completely still as Drake steals glances at me.

It might've been just me, but a cold look of realization crossed his eyes before he opened his mouth to say, "You're right. She's just my step sister." He turned on his heel and left. "Hope you have fun, Sis."

"Good, he's gone. Time for us." Normani turned towards me and smiled, leaning closer and closer. The moment her lips brushed mine, I quickly stepped around her. "What, what's wrong?"

"Um, you know what. I'm feeling a little lightheaded. I think I'll be heading home, now." I didn't really have time to see her reaction or even offer her one before rushing out of the kitchen with my tail between my legs.

Fudge, where's Drake?! I looked everywhere. Or at least the places I thought he'd be. All the second floor's bedroom, bathroom, and kitchens. How many freaking kitchens do they need?

I rushed outside hoping to see the car still parked where we left it, and to my luck, a flash of Drake's red flannel caught my eye. I tried to adjust my eyesight but it was difficult when I don't have my glasses. I ran after him and as I got closer, the more easier it became to see. And I wished I never went after him. There he was. Behind the car making out with some red head. They felt more stare because they separated and stared my way.

"Who the hell are you?" The red head said bitterly, obviously upset that I interrupted. I didn't exactly respond due to me not really knowing how to respond. So I just focused my gaze on Drake who wore a bored expression expression., which kinda hurt me because he didn't seem to care I found him in this situation with a girl.

"I wanna go home."

"Take a cab or something, Roslyn. Can't you see I'm busy." I stared at him in disbelief. Tears became to appear in my eyes but I tried to keep them down, simply hoping they couldn't see in the darkness.

"B-but I don't have any money." My voice trembled.

The girl huffed and Drake rolled his eyes. "Figures." Taking out a big wad of dollar bills from his pocket, he tossed it at me and shooed me with his hands.

"Take it and leave."

I stared at the money on the ground floor with tears already threatening to spill. "W-what?"

"Are you brain dead or something? LEAVE!" The bitc-red head screamed, scaring the crap out of me. I hate when people scream at me. I crouched down shamefully and picked up the money from the ground, the tears I was so desperately trying to hold back already racing down my cheeks. I fled from the scene, too embarrassed to even look up at them. The car was parked right in front of the house so I had to walk a lot so I can get to a more secluded place. It was only ten thirty so the sky wasn't fully black yet. I ran till I was sure I was far away enough from the car.

"Hey you!" By then I got kinda scared, I was alone where anyone could kidnap or rape me. "Hey, you the one with the dress!" SHOOT ITS TALKING TO ME! I speed walked, taking out my phone and getting ready to call 911. A hand pressed over my mouth causing me to scream.

"Sh, sh. I'm not going to hurt you, I just want to talk. I saw what happened back there."  I stopped struggling for while. What? The person, who I can tell is a man, let go of me and stepped back. "You really need to learn how to defend yourself kid."

"Who are you?" I took a small step back and searched his profile. He looked like he was in his mid-twenties with dark pepper hair. He had a long straight nose and extremely long eyelashes for a rough looking guy. His muscles weren't over the roof but they were hard to miss in his tight-fitting t-shirt.

"Name's Jess, nice to meet you." Jess offered his hand, which I looked at for a while before hesitantly taking it in mine firmly.

"Hm," he glanced at our connected hands. "For a weak girl, you have an awful solid hand shake."

I didn't know whether it was a compliment or an insult, therefore I just started at him.

"Do you want to be stronger?"

"What kind of question is that? everyone wants to be stronger than they are."

"I mean mentally, well... And physically also. If you wish." He gazed at me questionably.

"How does one even do that?"

"It's possible."

"Yeah, I know. But whoever is possible of doing that doesn't exactly hand out free invitations to do so. Especially out in the streets at night."

"Then that means you're lucky." He smirked, fishing for something in his pocket, "here-" he took out a card and handed it to me. "Give me a call if you think you need my assistance. Even though I know you do."
