Myles' pov
As I walk down the streets of this city, so much is going through my mind. I can't believe that I just escaped! Seventeen years in that science lab and now I'm here, in this city. I have no idea what it's called nor do I know anyone. However, there are a lot of people here, I wander if I could make friends with someone.I decide to walk up to a boy who's about my age and try to talk to him. I stop when I'm a few meters away. Why? I can see what he just did. The vision I'm getting is of him smoking and dealing drugs. Maybe I should just walks away. So, I do.
It's getting frustrating. Every time I walk past someone, I can see their past. What they did a few hours ago and what they did a few years ago. I walk past a group of girls and all of their pasts go into my head at once. This is getting stressful, it has never happened before. All the talking, crying, laughing is inside my head all at once. I grab the sides of my head and sit on a bench away from them. Their pasts are still in my head. Just leave! This is painful! I can't get them out of my head! I have an awful headache, my hands are tightly gripping onto the sides of my head and I probably look like a psychopath. It isn't my fault! I start sweating as the visions get more intense. I don't want to see this violence! Please stop! Please stop!
"Are you ok sir?" A small voice asks and all the visions clear.
I look up to see a blonde girl around my age looking at me.
"Do you have a bottle of water?" I ask, sweating in fear.
"Yes, here you go." She says and hands me her bottle.I take a sip of the cool liquid and feel like my normal self again.
"Thanks." I say and hand her the bottle.
"That's ok, do you want me to call your parents to pick you up?" She asks, looking slightly worried.
My parents? I don't even know where my parents are. All I remember is being taken away from them when I was a baby and taken to the lab. Thank God I escaped.
"I don't have any parents." I say.
Well it's true! Do I have any parents?
"Oh I'm sorry." She says.
"That's ok but I'm actually a bit lost. You see I was looking for a place to stay and then I got a bit stressed out." I lie.
"You seem like a nice guy, why don't you stay at my house until you get your own place?" She asks, smiling sweetly.
"Really? Thank you!" I exclaim.
"That's ok, I used to be like you once. My parents kicked me out of their house because I snuck out once. So I lived on the streets here and saved up for a house. Now I have a paying job, warm house and food to eat. I don't want you to go through what I had to." She says.
"I'm sorry to hear that but at least you're happy now!" I say making her smile.
"I'm Briar by the way." She says and holds out her hand.
"Myles." I say and shake it."Now come on, my house is this way!" She says, dragging me away from the bench.
