Myles' pov
The next morning I woke up at eight and decide to stay in bed. I can't believe that I have somewhere to live, someone to live with who is my friend! Now that she knows about my secret, I feel like I should tell her about my past. About the lab and how she could be in danger if they find her. I didn't think about that before. If the scientists find me, they'll question Briar. See what she knows, see if she knows why I'm like this and if she doesn't give them answers, I'm pretty sure that they'll torture her. I don't want that to happen! I can't let that happen! I have to keep her safe, she's just an innocent girl.

After half an hour of laying in bed thinking, I decide to make her breakfast. Briar is still asleep and it's the least I can do. After all, she's letting me live here for free! I should find a job and pay for myself but I don't know how to get a job. Maybe Briar could help. Anyway, I make her some toast with jam and a cup of tea. I know it isn't much but, I don't know how to cook. I have a lot to learn in the world. A lot.

Without making a sound, I slowly walk into Briar's room, carrying the tray of food. She's wrapped up in her blue blanket. She looks so peaceful. I don't want to wake her up. Instead, I write her a note- 'Decided to make you breakfast! Sorry I can NOT cook so I made toast. I think that you would be better off without food poisoning :) Anyway, I'm going for a jog, be back in about an hour. See ya!'. And with that, I get dressed into some sports clothes and go out for a jog.

Briar's pov
My eyes slowly open at half past eight and I smell food. I open my eyes a bit more and see a tray of food next to me. What's this? I take the tray off my bedside table and see that there is a note attached to it. It's from Myles, he's gone for a run but made me breakfast! He's so sweet, I've never met anyone like him.

Once I eat my breakfast, I get dressed into some blue denim shorts and a white t-shirt. I wander when Myles will get back, I want to thank him for breakfast.

Just as I was thinking about him, he burst through my front door, panting like a dog.
"Oh hey Briar! You're up!" He says with a smile.
"Thanks for the breakfast by the way." I say and return the smile.
"That's ok. Do you have a minute to talk? I need to tell you something." He says and his smile fades.
"Sure, come sit on the sofa." I say and sit down with him.
"You see, I forgot to tell you this yesterday. I was born a normal human but able to see people's pasts as you already know. What I didn't tell you was that, I was taken away from my parents as soon as my power was found out and I was taken to a science lab. I was tested on but they couldn't find out why I had this power. So, when I turned seventeen, I ran away and ended up here. The only thing is, the scientists will be after me. If they know I'm with you, they'll find you as well and could possibly torture you for answers about me. I'm sorry." He says and looks down.

What? Crazy scientist are after him? They'll find me? What? I believe him but I don't want to be tortured! I have to think of something quickly!
"I have an idea!" I exclaim.
"What is it?" He asks, looking up hopefully.
"Well you could change your name, but still be Myles to me, and get a job as something. You can change your wardrobe and personality! It's the only way that they won't find you." I say and look at his face.
"Great idea but, I don't know how to do any of those things. Living in a lab your whole life has its faults." He says.
"True, I have work tomorrow so I'll try and sort everything out today!" I say with a smile.
"Thanks Briar, you're the best." He says and hugs me.
No one has ever said that to me before, Myles always seems to make me happy.
