There are some ups and downs of dating a hockey player. An up being that Luke gets to run Calum hot baths when they get either one of their houses to themselves to ease Calum's bruised up and pulled muscles, the down being that those nights are dedicated to the big bathtub full of hot water and Calum doesn't want to do anything until the hot water has became room temperature and by then Luke's at his sleepiest so they don't do anything else. Luke loves being with Calum nonetheless, with only one slight problem; Luke is terrified of the ice. He just sees it as a way to get easily injured or hurt, he can't count how many times that Calum has been benched of a sprained ankle or wrist, how many players had broken their legs. It just scared him, he doesn't ever want to get on it, and Calum has never shown a problem with it. "Lots of people are afraid of going on the ice," he said once to consul Luke once, "it's no big deal. You don't ever have to get on the ice, it's just not what you do, you're a guitarist, Luke, guitarist won't ever have to play on the ice." He finishes it off with a small, quick, kiss to Luke's lips.

What Calum has done, though, is despicable, because Luke is absolutely sure of what he has planned the minute that they come into a very cold room with a bandanna over Luke's eyes. He wants to flick him off, but he refrains until he can actually see what's going on. Calum unties the bandanna and Luke stares at him for a good few minutes, at his wide grin and he is very unamused at whatever Calum wanted to call this. "No." Luke shakes his head. "I am not doing this."

"Aw, Luke, c'mon, it'll be fun, I swear." Calum says, reaching his hand out for Luke to take. "I even had everything set up, I got some skates that were your size and everything and I promise, after this, we will get whatever dinner you'd like."

Luke sighs, figuring it would be a tad mean to just blow off what Calum had planned. He takes Calum's hand and lets him pull the both of them to the benches. Calum tied up his skates and made sure Luke's were tight enough where they wouldn't untie on the ice before helping Luke on to the freshly cleaned ice. "I promise I will not let you fall, okay?" Calum asks and Luke nods, gripping tightly on to Calum's arms, not because he was really afraid of falling, just because if he did, he was going to take Calum down with him for making him partake in his dumbass idea. "Okay, just kind of... walk but slide at the same time. Like, as if you were sliding around with socks on around on your hardwood floors to Kansas." Luke glared at him as he giggles.

"One time, Calum, one time." Calum slid on the ice sort of sliding Luke along with him.

"Whatever, we both know you do it all the time." Calum laughed, letting go of Luke for a moment so he could turn around. He reaches his hands out to grab Lukes', placing them on his hoodie covered sides. "Just hold on, okay? Don't let go."

"Yes, Calum, because I was totally going to let go of you."

"And stop being a bitch."Calum laughs.

"I'll stop if you do." Luke counters, and Calum moves out of his grip, making Luke panic.

"Take it back." Calum said. "Take it back and I'll help you again."

"Okay, okay! I take it back, you're not a bitch, get back over here!" Calum reaches out his hands and pulls Luke back in, Luke head landing on his chest, causing him to blush as his legs slid apart from each other. Calum positioned him back up to his skates, bringing Luke face to face with him. "Thanks." Luke muttered, receiving a light kiss from Calum.

"You're cute." Calum smiled. "Now c'mon, let's try again." He begins to slide again, this time with Luke having a death grip on his side. At one point, he decides to wrap his arms completely around Calum's torso as Calum skates around, sliding Luke around with him. They go around the rink a couple times, Calum switching around and letting Luke skate around a bit with Calum's help, slipping up a few times, but never falling.

Luke's sitting on the side for a minute, watching Calum do a round around the rink, then come back. "Can we go get that dinner you promised now?" Luke asked and Calum just laughs and nods.

"Sure, just let me get these skates back to the locker room." He says, pulling Luke to the benches and untying both of their shoes. Luke did this weird thing as he got back on his feet following Calum and waiting outside of the locker room, it was a bit weird not to be wobbly after such a long time of sliding. He pulls out his phone, checking the time, it was 11:30, and they'd gotten here at nine, but it didn't seem like that long after Luke had gotten the hang of it.

Suddenly, Calum is grabbing Luke's arm and pulling him outside of the rink, muttering 'run' a bunch of times. Luke laughs as he can hear a man's voice in the background, telling them to not come back any other time tonight. They'd been caught, but Luke doubts that the security guard saw enough of Calum to actually bust them. Calum's starting up his mother's car and speeding off school grounds, slowing down once they got to the streets. They head to a small diner, getting out of the car and sitting in a booth. They ordered some milkshakes up and as Luke sipped at his. "Hey, Luke, I think I realized something today."

"That you love me more than you thought?" Luke asked, smirking as Calum laughed.

"No, I just realized that you'd be a hot figure skater." Luke playfully punched him from across the table. "But, yeah, the love thing. I also love you a lot too."

"I'd hope so." Calum put his hand out for grabs and Luke gladly takes it as they continue talking.
