It came from the shadows
It slithered under the door
I begged for it to leave
But it had no master
I was only its victim
It dragged along my wood floor
And crawled up my frame
My whole body shook with tears
From fear
Of what the shadow brought tonight
It snapped at me
Grabbing my wrist and wrenching
My hand toward a pink plastic egg
I couldn't control myself
I cracked it open
And grasped my only hope
From the dark
The shadows fear my blood
Pulling off my shield
I gave my arm to the beast
Then slashed me open
And I gushed onto
This creature
It screamed in agony
In stereo with me
And rushed out
Taking the dark with it
Like blowing out a candle
The sun had risen
And I face another sleepless night
But I patch myself up
And pull my sleeve down
Close my eyes
For two seconds
And breathe
