Mavis knew that she couldn't keep her oblivious facade for long. She needed to eventually raise her head up before she gets the unnecessary attention. She was trying her best to be positive about the situation, convincing herself that maybe...just maybe...all her worries would lead nowhere. Her palms were getting sweaty as she held her pen tightly. She was sure that the room thermostat had always been set to a colder temperature than the average but she was feeling unusually warm.

"Seriously...this is ridiculous, Mavis." She was muttering words to herself as she tries to regain her composure. Just when she was about to raise her head, she heard a familiar voice close to where she was seated.

"Stop acting weird."

She was not sure if she heard correctly or maybe all the overthinking and worrying already affected her senses that she had already associated certain voices with faces that would disturb her even more. Slowly, she turned her head to confirm exactly who that was...

...and figured that things can still get worse.

"What are you doing?", she asked as she stared at Raleigh who was already sitting at the spot right next to her.

"What do you mean?" He answered without looking at Mavis' direction.

She looked around and saw Knight already seated at Raleigh's original spot. He was just looking at his phone.

"Nothing.", said Mavis. With a deep sigh, she just continued staring at her notes as if she could make sense of everything that's been going on while doing so.

Stop overthinking!!! Just let it be!!! You should not care anymore!!! She was writing the same sentences over and over again on her notebook pretending to be listening and jotting down discussion points.

Why did Raleigh all of sudden sat beside me?

What was he thinking? Did he perhaps notice what was bothering me?

Or maybe it was just me who's thinking too much? What if he just felt like doing so?

Mavis just rubbed her hair in confusion and just tried her best to focus her intention into things that she can actually comprehend.

After about 2 hours of undeniably uncomfortable classroom session, Mavis immediately packed up her stuff and made sure to stand up and walk out the door as soon as Prof. Morin left the room. Her pace was almost as if she was just a breeze away from doing a sprint from across the hallway. As she stepped out of the building, she felt her phone vibrating inside her bag.

"Unknown Number"

She looked over it and was hesitant to answer. These days, curiosity got her into some really tight situations. She knew better than just always taking the bait.

"You'll have to send me a message first if it's anything urgent.", she said as she put her phone back into her bag.

She looked at her watch and saw that she still have a couple more minutes to spare before her next class so she decided to go to the library first and maybe start doing advance research for a paper due at the end of the term. And so far, the library seemed to have been a safe place since she had not encountered anyone of those troubled heirs while she's there.

She hurried and walked as fast as she could towards the library building which was two buildings away from her previous class. Just when she was about to reach the library lobby, she heard someone called out her name.

"Mavis?"

She stopped and pretended that she did not hear anything and continued walking. She shook her head and let out a deep sigh. "Right! Stop acting weird." She went straight to the restricted area section and started browsing on some old manuscripts. After taking out a few books from the shelves, she went to look for a good spot to start browsing them. The library isn't usually packed with students, even during exams week. Students of the academy pretty much rely on digital copies of almost everything that no one bothers to visit the building. And that is probably one of the few things Mavis is grateful for.
