Ashton

"Ashy-bear!" Ashton groaned jokingly, not able to suppress a smile as he saw his best friend run into the room. "Hey hey hey!"

"I was waiting for you," Ashton spoke with a deep voice, before letting out his ever so famous giggle. Michael grinned widely, pretending to jump on the beanie-clad boy. Ashton squealed, trying to save himself with his arms.

Michael laughed loudly as he carefully leaned forward to hug the boy, humming quietly. "How are you?"

"Good, good. Got some more good news from Bethany today." Ashton grinned widely, making Michael pull back with wide eyes. "What? Tell!"

Ashton giggled once again, taking in his best friend. He loved seeing the boy react. "I'm allowed to go home later today."

Michael froze, looking at his best friend with wide eyes. It took him a minute or two before he pulled back to move his hands to his hair and tug at the strands. "No way."

"Yes way," the beanie-clad boy shot back, giggling once again.

"Holy -- Je- Holy!" Michael started jumping in his spot, cheering. "This is amazing!"

Ashton nodded, still smiling widely. The galaxy-haired boy let out a big sigh of happiness, clapping his hands together as he sat down on his chair. "Wow."

"I know right," the oldest sighed happily, not able to stop smiling. Michael put his hands in front of his mouth. "Today."

"Yeah." Ashton nodded. "But I do have to come back quite a lot to make sure I'm doing okay and all."

"Who cares? We can finally cuddle properly on your kingsized bed! And watch so many new movies and you can watch me fail trying to bake cookies until your mum comes in to take over as she scolds me," Michael grins widely, Ashton giggling as he thought back to when that had actually happened.

"What time? Like, how soon? I wanna go home now, God." Michael rambled, practically bouncing in his chair.

"What time is what, gentlemen?" A female voice asked, making both boys turn to the new person that entered the room. It was nurse Bethany, who was basically Ashton's private nurse.

"I just told Michael I'm allowed to go home today."

"Ah, yes. That is true indeed. You do have to watch what you do, so no excessive eating or moving. Don't do anything you usually don't do and I think you've already heard the rest from the doctor, am I right?" Nurse Bethany said, counting the things off her fingers.

"Yes, I have. And I think my mum has been informed as well, right?" Ashton smiled, knowing his mum would be there soon and he would be reunited with his siblings not long after.

"Definitely. Even if you're eighteen, you still live with your mum so we had to. She arrived a few minutes ago, do you want me to let her in?" Nurse Bethany gestured to the door, raising her eyebrows lightly as she awaited an answer.

Ashton simply nodded, still smiling and smiling even wider when his mum entered the room. "Oh honey, I'm so happy."

The beanie-clad boy held his arms out, happily accepting his mum's tight hug as they muttered things to one another. Michael smiled as he watched them interact, getting up from his chair to retrieve the wheelchair Ashton's mum had left near the door.

"As I was saying, no weird things. Also, please make sure you remember your appointment and I think that is all so far. If there is anything call us or if we need you we will call you. Everything clear?" Ashton nodded, watching his mum get up and walk over to the wheelchair. Michael had already moved back next to Ashton, smiling at him.

"I'm so fucking excited," Michael breathed out, watching the wheelchair being wheeled closer before turning back to Ashton and moving closer.

Ashton had scooted himself closer to the edge of the bed, already familiar with how to get out of a bed and into his wheelchair, easily hoisting himself from one to another. Michael stood there just in case, secretly sighing in relief as Ashton safely moved himself.

"Well, I think that really is all, so if you just stop by the hall to sign out everything will be fine. Be careful and until your appointment." Nurse Bethany finished, saying her goodbye's and leaving the three alone.

Ashton leaned his head back to look at his mum, grinning. "Hi."

"Hi honey. Are you feeling alright?" Ashton hummed, looking in front of him again as he got wheeled out of the room. He reached back, taking his mum's hand in his own, giggling as that caused her to make the wheelchair go to the left.

"Let me wheel him," Michael quickly offered, smiling and taking over as Ashton's mum thanked him and went to walk beside her son, holding his hand in hers with a smile.

"Lauren and Harry will be so happy to see you again. They hated that you basically forbid them to come visit you." Ashton's mum looked down at him, seeing her son nod.

"I can imagine. I just didn't want to scar them with how awful I looked during the treatment. I truly feel bad for them, but I just want them to not worry and do what they like. Be happy." Ashton sighed softly, pulling his mum's hand closer and holding it against his cheek. His mum smiled at the action, squeezing his hand softly.

The three soon reached the main hall and Ashton's mum signed some papers, making them soon be on their way home. All the way in the car, Ashton was tapping the dashboard in excitement, making Michael chuckle and playfully slap his arm.

"Home sweet home," Ashton breathed out once they pulled into the familiar driveway he had missed more than he thought at first. Michael was quick to leave the car, already getting Ashton's wheelchair from the back and making it ready for Ashton to hop into.

"Ashy!" Two voices exclaimed from the door, making Ashton look up as he settled himself in the wheelchair. He smiled widely as he saw his two siblings in the doorway of his home, waving at them.

Ashton leaned back as he let himself be pushed towards the house, watching his siblings step back to let him enter, before both of them clung onto him.

"I'm so happy." Both siblings said at the same time, making Ashton giggle slightly as he tried to keep both close. "Me too."

"C'mon kids, let him get settled first, then you can ask all you want at dinner. Michael, are you staying as well?" Ashton watched his friend's face brighten, knowing even before the question of his mum that Michael hadn't planned to leave anyway.

And he didn't mind, because after all, he enjoyed every minute of his best friend's presence, even if he had basically spent every day with him already. He could never get sick of Michael, just like Michael could never get sick of him. And that was just one of the good things in his life that he surely never wanted to lose.
