Anakin's pov
What just happened?
As I walk towards my ship, my head spins, replaying everything that just happened over and over again.
I finally found Rider, and I let him get away, let him return to Sidious to get himself killed. Even though I was able to place a tracking device on his shoulder, it won't matter if I can't convince any other Jedi to help me rescue him.
With a heavy sigh, I sit in my seat, putting my head in my hands as I try to stop the thousands of worried thoughts from circling around my mind.
A few minutes later, when my hands aren't shaking as badly and I can think about more than just Rider, I pull out my Com Link.
As I wait for Obi-Wan to respond, I take a deep breath, trying to compose myself.
Once his flicking blue holographic image appears, I say with a small smile, "Master, there is a slight complication with the mission I was given."
"Complication?" Obi-Wan asks, sounding worried already.
"I was walking down an alley when the Sith found me. I pulled out my lightsaber to fight him, but he never did the same. When he took off his cloak, I saw that the Sith was Rider," I say calmly even though the entire expirence has left me feeling sick. I shouldn't have let Rider go back to Sidious. He might be killed before I get the chance to save him.
"Did you kill him?" Obi-Wan asks after a few seconds of silence.
I let out a sigh before saying, "No. I almost did, but I just couldn't convince myself that killing him was the only option."
"Did you let him go?" Obi-Wan asks after another pause that lasts for a few seconds.
"Rider thinks that killing Sidious will save Shawn. I don't know if he is right, but just in case he is, we have to take that chance. I put a tracking device on him, so as we speak he is leading us to Sidious. If you can get two more Jedi to help us, we can save both Shawn and Rider," I say quickly, knowing that he isn't going to like this idea but hoping that he will go along with it anyways.
"I don't know about this, Anakin," Obi-Wan says after a minute of silence.
"I know that you don't like Rider, but even after all that has happened he still is my best friend. Besides, this is our best chance at killing Sidious. The Council has spent months looking for him, today, we can find and kill him," I say earnestly, trying so hard to convince him to help me. If he doesn't, both Shawn and Rider will die within the next few days.
After another minute of him not saying anything, in a determined tone I say, "No matter what, I am going to save Rider. If you don't want to help me, I will contact Kellan and the two of us will try to defeat Sidious ourselves."
"Once he lands, send me his coordinates," Obi-Wan says with a sigh after another minute of silence, causing me to smile widely.
"Of course, Master. See you soon," I say cheerfully, so glad that he is going to help me. Without his help, I don't know if Kellan and I would have been able to defeat Sidious ourselves.
Without waiting for his response, I cut the transmission and put away the Com Link.
Now that the Com Link is tucked away safely, I look at the tracking device to see that Rider is flying towards Mustafar.
Of course! How could we have not thought to check a desolate, uninhabitable planet like Mustafar? What better place than to hide on a planet that no one believes can support life?
The second Rider lands on Mustafar I send his coordinates to Obi-Wan.
"I'll save you, Rider," I say just above a whisper as I start up my ship.
