Angelica just glared at her, then lifted the sheet on the bed to look at Blaise. He started coughing, then his eyes fluttered open again.

"Blaise? Are you alright?" She asked, crawling under the bed with him, examining his face closely.

As soon as he seemed fully awake, a pained look crossed his face. He scrunched his eyes shut, clenching his jaw. "Agh..." he groaned, "My shoulder..."

"Shh, it's okay baby..." she said, trying to comfort him a little. She slowly leaned over him, kissing him.

He kissed her back as best he could, before his head fell back again. He closed his eyes, trying to bear the pain from his shoulder. "It h.... hurts..."

She looked over him, teary eyed. "I know baby... it'll be okay... as soon as it's nighttime, Devin will help us, okay?"

"Devin? Ain't he the guard man?" Todd asked, annoyingly loud.

"Shh!!" Angelica hissed, "be quiet!"

"Just asking a gosh darn question, yeesh," he said, still at the same volume.

"She said be quiet, Todd," Lotus said.

When Todd didn't respond to her, Angelica assumed that Cadance had put a spell on him.

"Yep," she heard from Cadance's cell, confirming her thought

She looked back down at Blaise, who looked like he was fighting back tears. "Shh, it's okay baby..." she said soothingly, desperate for some way to make him feel better.

Then she heard that sound, the one she knew so well. The door unlocking.

It was from far away, but of course she knew it. "They're back," Cadance hissed, taking her spell off of Todd. He didn't dare speak though, since the guards were in the room.

Angelica scrambled the rest of the way under the bed, making sure the sheet didn't get caught. She was kind of laying on top of Blaise, but not in a way that would hurt him. She put her hands over his ears, knowing there would be yelling from the guards.

"Hey!!" One of them shouted, "Where'd scrawny go?!"

She could hear the guards muttering in confusion, some of them shouting stupid things.

"We need to go check on Princess Angelica, I think," one of them said loudly, trying to be heard over the others' nonsense.

"I concur," another one said.

"Concur with what?" One of the guards said, obviously not hearing the first.

"Concur with Devin's idea of checking on the Princess."

Angelica froze at Devin's name. She thought he was stationed in the throne room, he couldn't possibly be in the dungeon. Right? Apparently not...

"I could stay here, ask the inmates if they saw anything," she heard Devin's voice say. How lucky!

"Alright, we'll go check on the princess then," the other guard said, walking away. She heard the door open then close again, then the sound of footsteps approaching from down the hall.

"Hey, Devin," Lotus said as he stopped in the hall outside their cluster of cells.

"Hello, Lotus," he said, mocking the tone of her voice rather than questioning it.

"If this is the Devin you're looking for, he's the only guard here," Angelica heard Cadance's monotone say... inside her head? Must be a mindbender thing.
