He landed outside the apartment building, carefully setting her down and retracting his wings.

"We'd better go fast, in and out," Angelica said, taking his hand and walking in the building, entering the lobby.

Nothing was going on, and the lobby was empty besides the receptionist at the help desk. They quickly walked to the elevator, Angelica pressing the button and tapping her foot impatiently as they waited.

"Calm down a little, you're so tense," Blaise said, putting his arm around her.

"Why wouldn't I be? The authorities are looking for me... and you too, they'll kill you..." she trailed off, "the apartment would be the first place they'd check..."

"Then maybe they already checked it, they wouldn't have found anything," Blaise reassured her.

"I guess so..." she trailed off, just as the elevator carriage came and the doors opened. They walked in, Blaise pressing the button for the third floor.

"I need to get the rest of my medications and some clothes, you?"

"Just some clothes and stuff I guess," she said, looking up at the screen that displayed what floor they were passing.

"Come on, don't be so nervous," he said, hugging her.

"How?" She asked, resting her head on his shoulder. "We're in danger here and when we go to the human world you'll be in danger..."

"I thought you said they wouldn't hurt me?"

"Well they won't, who knows what other human would though?" She asked, looking down.

"Humans can't tell," Blaise said, "only if they pour holy water on me or burn sage or something. Or if they see my wings."

"But your wings are so pretty, now you won't be able to fly anymore..." she trailed off, looking down.

The elevator doors opened, revealing a long hallway of doors.

"Come on," Blaise said, walking out of the elevator and holding her hand, "my wings are the same color as the night sky, I'll still be able to use them when it's dark."

"I guess so," she said, gripping his hand a little bit tighter.

They walked up to Blaise's apartment door, standing in front of it for a second.

"What if they bugged it?" Angelica whispered, staring at the door.

"Would they do that?" He whispered back, looking at the doorframe for cameras or microphones.

"I bet so. Not the outside though. When we go in, don't say a word about where we're going," she whispered into his ear. "And it could be a live feed, so we need to move fast."

"Got it," he whispered, "you start getting clothes for both of us, I'll get my pills and some other stuff we'll need."

"Alright," she said, opening the door and peering in. She opened it completely, letting the light from the hall illuminate the dark apartment.

It was completely torn up, everything out of place, no pillow left unturned.

"Well, guess they were here," Blaise said softly, turning the lights on.

"We need to go fast, they would have left something behind," Angelica hinted, running to their bedroom. She quickly got a backpack from the closet and began putting pairs of clothes in it.

Blaise went out to the kitchen, opening a cabinet and starting to take bottles filled with pills out. After he had all of them, about five bottles, he walked into the bedroom.

"Got them," he said, "and I saw a bug," he said softly, kneeling next to her and dropping the bottles in the bag. "I think it was a camera. Could have been a live feed."

"Come on, we have to go," Angelica said, looking around the room. In the corner of the ceiling near the door, she saw a small black object that could have easily been missed if she wasn't looking for it. "We have to go now. Another bug, at your six," she said softly.

"Come on," he said, standing up, not turning and looking at the bug. "We can go stay in the hotel down the street," he said, but Angelica knew he was saying it so the bug would pick it up.

"Alright," she nodded, picking up the bag and putting it on. She took his hand, moving a bit too fast toward the door.

They got to the door, Blaise pulling it open and leading her out into the hallway. They both looked up and down the door, glad that there were no palace guards in sight.

"Maybe it wasn't a live feed," Angelica grinned.

"We're lucky," Blaise said, "now let's go, I don't want to stay here for a second longer."

"Agreed," she said, somewhat jogging down the hall toward the elevator, Blaise following close behind.
