So.... I got my first detention today. Some of you might be like pffft FIRST DETENTION ha I get one like every other day and others will be like AHHHHH WHAT DETENTION THAT IS UNHEARD OF. Yeah. It involved a whole fiasco that involved me "cutting class" and making "poor choices" and so I sat in a room for 45 minutes staring at the wall... Exciting. Which brought me to my next point.... Teachers tend to abuse their power of being able to give out detentions as a form of punishment or reform. Yes there is a line and on one side is reasonable reasons as to why a child should receive a detention like having multiple tardy's, plagerism, having many missing homework assignments, cheating, cutting class *cough me cough* etc. However, on the other side of that line is completely dumb excuses for punishing a kid and I have many examples of that.
A) Multiple people got detentions for forgetting their gym uniforms at home.
B) Someone got suspended for dabbing. FOR DABBING.
C) The substitute teacher was taking attendance and when she got to this one guy he said here, but when he said it his voice cracked (like most teenage prepubescent boys voices do) and she perceived that as him making fun of her voice and when he defended himself she yelled at him for yelling at her and rolling his eyes at her which was not the case at all.... So he ended up in detention with me
Then there are the cases where someone does something completely outrageous and it goes unpunished, or they get a more lenient punishment than they should have.
A) Someone got an in school suspension for watching porn DURING CLASS. In my opinion they should have gotten an out of school suspension or even expelled
B) Someone was being racist to a girl in front of the teacher and she saw it happen and ignored it.
C) someone blatantly and loudly called me a genuine retard in front of the teacher and SHE LITERALLY JUST LAUGHED.
