~*A week later*~

*3rd person POV*

Y/N slept without waking, but the nurse and Wendy assured Gajeel that it was a healing sleep.  Gajeel had moved back into his old room so that it'd be easier to see her.  He would go back and forth from his room to hers.  The nurse took pity on him and allowed him to watch Wendy work on her as much as she could before, the nurse kicked him out.  After being forced out of the room, he headed back to his room.  As he sat on the bed his eyes wandered towards her bags.  After deciding that something in any of the bags could help Y/N, he walked over and looked through them.

When he opened the duffle bag his eyes widened a bit when he saw all the jewels in there.  There were millions in there all carefully packed, but what caught his attention was the bundle of material in there.  He took it out, zipped the bag back up, and sat back down.  He carefully unwrapped the bundle seeing a worn leather journal there. He traced the designs on the cover trying to decide on if he should read it or not.

Curiosity got the best of him and he opened it and what caught his attention was a hand sketched picture of him on the front page.  He flipped it and the words he read chilled him to the bone.  It was labled under 1st mission.

"I reached the little town I was sent to.  The town's folk gave me discriptions of the monsters, pointing towards the woods.  As soon as I stepped into the woods I knew something was off.  Something was watching me.  I didn't hear birds singing, I heard nothing at all.  I felt no heat from the sun, I saw nothing here.  The woods were dark and so quiet.  Suddenly something moved."

He continued to read processing the horrors Y/N had seen.  Chills ran up and down his spine as he read the discriptions of her wounds, and what she had fought.  He was amazed that she was still alive and standing.  He realized that if she hadn't of written it all down she wouldn've gone crazy remembering the things she had seen, the things she had done.  He read until he saw the last entry.  It was labled under the last mission.

"I dragged myself across the ground, trying to get help, knowing that I had to go on.  I knew that I had to go on.  I looked back at the horrifying monster that I had killed and I realized that the only reason I was still alive, even with my wounds was because of the love I had for Gajeel.  Because of him I  knew that I couldn't leave, in that instant I knew that I had to get back to Fairy Tail, that I had to get back to him even if I had to drag myself there."

As he began to close the journal, papers fell out of it and he saw his name on them, and as he looked at them he realized that they were letters that she had never sent.  He put them in order using the dates and began to read.

"Date June 26 X792

Dear Gajeel,  I believe I may be pregnant with your child.  My only fear and regret is that you may never see this child born of our love.  I cannot tell the magic council my state, because they asked for my life.  I must give them that, even if it means never seeing you again my love.  I must give them my life for the good of Fairy Tail.  I must do this for you, for my family.  Please forgive me if I don't return."

He continued to read a few more until another one caught his eye.

"Date July 16 X792

Dear Gajeel, I have lost the child you and I created together.  I weep with the loss of our child.  The only thing I had with a connection to you is now gone and all I can do is weep.  I had been on a mission, when something suddenly happened.  I wasn't very far along, I am oddly great full for that.  Wait for me my love I'll be home soon.  I promise."

He read more but there was so many of them, by the time he reached the last one he was beginning to get afraid.

"Date Febuary 20 X798

Dear Gajeel,  After my last mission they found me crawling back towards you.  The council was surprised that I had survived with the wounds I had.  They took me to the infermery, the doctor's say I'll be horribly scarred but I don't care as long as I get to see you again.  They are finally sending me home.  My father said that since my injuries were so severe I have completed my contract.  I think he's letting me go home because he see's how weary of the journey's they have given me.

I think he sees how much I long for home, my family, my mate.  He sees how tired I am after all the years I've given him.  He said I must come work for him at least once a year and visit every month.  I believe I can give him that.  The other council members aren't that bad once you get to know them.  I've begun to know them quite well now.  They saw my determination to survive to come back to you.

My only regret now is that I may now lose my new found friends.  But at least I'll be home soon, soon we can be together again.  Oh how I've longed to see you again.  I only hope you'll forgive me for leaving.  I know it was wrong of me to leave without saying anything, but I couldn't the Chairman forbid me to tell anyone.  I'm so sorry for the pain I've caused you."

As he put everything back, tears covered his vision.  He cried at the pain she had felt, the suffering she had gone through just to return to him, because she loved him.  He treasured that and wanted to prove that she hadn't wasted her love on him.
