April's P.O.V.

Today was like every other Sunday at the Scaplen household.

Mom was MIA and Travis was hibernating till about one in the afternoon.

I mean, I probably would too if i was out till five partying.

That friggin kid needs to get a grip cause at this rate, he's going absolutely nowhere. That's how most of us felt. Although we live in cali, its a small town. All of us have at least one thing holding us down to Oxford. Occasionally you hear stories of people making their big break in hollywood or L.A. But that happens to people in the drama program or a belong to a band. Or those crazy smart people who everyone has a secret suspicion that they aren't human.

Me being one of those people.

Like Kelly Fisher for instance. All AP classes, straight A's, plays the piano, and the violin. She's the total stereotype package of a child prodigy.

And on top of all that, she's fucking asian.

WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT HOLY SHIT!

"Who the hell is that?" I yelled, running over to the stair case. "Carly?" I asked, laughing at the fact that Carly fell on the first step of the stairs and is hanging in for her dear life to one of the rods connecting the railing together. "Eaaasy there killah!" I say in a creepy, old man voice. Walking up the stairs to help her up.

"You better make me some fucking chocolate chip pancakes and sausages after that bitch." Carly says in a demanding, tiresome voice.

"I will if you come shopping with me after, whore." I say blandly back at her.

"I would be honored, slut." She said staring straight at me.

"Thanks cunt." I renounced with the biggest fake smile on my face i could give.

I took out the Bisquick from the cabinet next to the fridge.

"F this, how about we just go to Denny's. I'm to lazy to do this." I said, dropping the whisk i had took from the utensil holder thingy.

"Works for me, they would probably suck anyways. You can't cook." Carly said, slipping out of the chair and walking up the stairs to the bathroom.

"Are you showering first?" I yelled up the stairs on my toes, thinking she would hear me better if i was higher off the ground.

I didn't hear an answer so i waited. I heard the bathroom door shut and the shower start.

Well, there's my answer.

I turned around to put away the items i had taken out of their places, when i felt someone sneak up behind me and out their hands on my waist.

"You gonna make me something to eat?" I heard Dean whisper in my right ear, his warm breath made me jolt. I took a deep breath in and turned to slowly face him. When i was fully turned around, i let my breath out quietly.

"Maybe later." I said, brushing my lips against his in temptation. He went in for a kiss, but i turned my head in tease.

"You'll have to wait till tonight for that, my mom will be home soon. Plus me and Carls are going shopping. You know, one on one girl time." I said smirking, moving my long wavy hair to one side.

Dean looked down for a moment, then looked up at me. "Well you might want to get a prom dress while you're at it." He said while doing that sexy have smile.

Gets me every time.

Next thing i knew i had both legs wrapped around him, on the counter. My hands were on the back of his neck. And his, up my shirt touching my bare back.

"Dean, i-have to go-get ready." I said between breaths. Pushing him off me.

"If you want it, you can wait." I said smirking, slipping off the counter and walking up the stairs. As i did so, Carly protruded from the bathroom, towel around her body and her hair wet.

"I'm borrowing some clothes." She stated, not even glancing up at me.

"Alright." I said, walking into the bathroom.

~

"I'M RADIOACTIVE, RADIOACTIVE!" Carly and I yell in unison to the best song ever, by the best band ever. Imagine Dragons. I swear, i could name all their songs and their lyrics on command.

"April! You missed the exit, dumbass!" Carly screeched, then continued to slap my arm vigorously.

"No i didn't, we're going to a different mall. Dumbass." I say in a smart ass tone. She looked confused. "I am NOT buying my prom dress from some chain store. I want an original, all-out, insanely beautiful, dress. Both of us." I watched her eyes light up.

"Wait, you're kidding. You cant be serious. Daisy Gowns?!" Carly screamed at the top of her lungs.

"Do i look like I'm kidding?" I said laughing.

"Oh my god I can't believe this is happening!" Carly screeched again.

"Well better believe it babe, cause its happening." I said real smooth, doing the whole flip-your-hair, pull-down-your-sunglasses and rest-them-on-your-nose thing. Bad ass, i know.

And at that moment, not only did we feel invincible.

We were fabulous.

~

"Which one do you like better, the pink or blue?" Carly asked me, raising two beautiful dresses over her head.

"I like the pink one. Even though blonds usually wear blue, I would go with the pink because it makes your brown eyes pop." I smiled. "Alright, I have this one last dress to try on and then I'll make my decision."

I walked into the dressing room and slipped on my last shot. I walked out and Carly's jaw practically dropped to the floor.

"OH MY GOD! THAT'S THE ONE APRIL! THAT IS SOOO THE ONE!" Carly squealed, holding her hands together in front of her face.

I spun around in the most gorgeous, dark emerald green dress. Gems aligned the top and faded to my mid section. It was not a fluffy dress, it was one that hung loosely to show off my curves. Silky and smooth, all the way to the floor. I felt like a princess.

"Awe, looks like the bitch found her dream dress." A familiar, grumpy voice said from across the racks, walking our way.

I didn't move or say anything. Neither did Carly.

"So you think you've got it all figured out, don't you April. Well you don't. We still have to go to court, don't we? So don't get too ahead of yourself sweetie, cause we've got some tricks up our sleeves." Haley winked with this remark. Grinning with pleasure.

"Oh shut up Haley, you're just a lonely slut who I'm pretty sure Lucas only uses for sex now. Have fun." I shouted in her direction, easing off with the last few words, dying down the dramatic emotion.

Haley stood there for a minute. Then began to speak, "Just remember, I warned you."

Neither I or Carly said a word for a minute or two, taking in all that just happened.

It's hard to imagine how fast things can change in the most unexpected of ways. I guess it is just part of life and is inevitable to happen sooner or later, it just depends on where it falls on the time line of life.
