After a few weeks, Clay was forced to start walking.  The doctors would help him up, but then they gave him a wheeled walker, making him put weight on his side.  He would wince, move his hand to his side, and fall.

"Let's try again, Clay," one of the nurses said, helping Clay back up.

He shook his head.  "Not right now, please.  It hurts too much."

The nurse just sighed, putting him back on the bed and leaving.  He lifted his shirt, looking at the scar on his abdomen.  The scar was still slightly irritated, but it was getting better at least.

"Daddy!" a young girl's voice yelled out, followed by two laughing voices.

Jade pulled your hand, letting go as Clay and her met each other's eyes.  She ran up to him, stopping and sitting next to him on the bed.

"Hey, kiddo.  You doing good in school?"

"Yeah, Cordelia and I have been hanging out after school a lot.  I'm the top of my reading class, too!"

Clay smiled, kissing her head.  "Good job, my little gem.  (Y/N), you still okay?"

You smiled, nodding.  "What about you?  Still trying to walk?"

"Yeah, but it still hurts to put weight on my side.  I don't think I'll be the same when I fight."  Clay sighed, covering his face.

"Well, Clay- oh, you have visitors.  Do you want to try walking again with some family?" the nurse came back, looking wearily at you and Jade.

Clay looked down at his daughter, then up at his girlfriend.  "You want to watch me fail at walking?"

"You're not going to fail, Dad," Jade said.  "Mommy and I will be waiting down the hall.  You just do all you can, like you tell me all the time, never quit when it gets tough."

You took the young girl's hand, leading her down the hall.  Clay stood up, leaning against the walker, stepping lightly.  He winced again, but the voice of his daughter kept him walking.  Then as he walked out of the door, he pushed the walked away and took shaky steps when he saw you and Jade clapping.

The nurse had others watch him, which caused more cheering behind him.  Clay had a hand on the wall, keeping his balance as his side began to hurt.

Jade walked up to him, taking his free hand and pulling it lightly.  You smile and clap as he takes his hand off of the wall, following his daughter slowly down to her mother.

As he reached you, the nurses all cheered as he grabbed your hand, pulling you close.  He pulled you into a kiss, resting on hand on your waist as his other was still gripped by Jade.

"See, you didn't fail," you say as he pulled away, resting his head on yours.

Clay chuckled.  "You two are my good luck charms.  I love you guys, more than you can imagine."

"I love you, too, Clay."

"Daddy, you know we love you.  Like you are for us, we'll be there for you whenever you need us.  Hey, where did Uncle Aaron go?"

"I'm right here.  Luna called and asked me to get her a doctor on the phone.  She said she knew of some pills to help the baby live.  So you can have a cousin."

Aaron came up to Clay, patting his shoulder.  "Good job, buddy.  Keep at it and you should be able to train in a few months.  That should make you excited."

Clay just laughed.  "I'd be excited when I'm able to go back home.  I miss being home with my family and my team."

Aron smiles, lifting Jade up and letting her kiss her father goodbye.  "I'll take her to Cordelia's house if you want me to, (Y/N).  I have to give Luna these pills anyway."

You nod, giving Jade a kiss on the head.  "See you tomorrow, little gem."

Aaron heads off, leaving you and Clay alone.  You kiss him on the lips longer than before.  "Good job, Moorington.  We're proud of you."

"Heh, thanks, (Y/N).  But I'm bored here alone.  Could you, um, stay here for a while?"

You smile, nodding.  "Sure thing."  You helped him to his room, setting him on the bed.  You pulled a chair up, holding his hand and watching t.v. with him.
